Are we friends? That looks like my doing!
Seriously ruined a company laptop that way 😂 -
What the actual fuck? Able to use a screwdriver, disconnect the keyboard strip, and then wash it?
I dont buy it. -
@magicMirror I was shocked to hell...but it's working perfectly fine after reattaching.😶
-
@Fantoxicated then they used some sort of special foam to clean it. A can costs a couple of $$.
-
@Fantoxicated electronics 101: there needs to be energy for something to conduct.
I usually do it with water for myself. As long as there is no more current on the keyboard(takes a bit of time). I've even done it with other parts.
Though the foam in a can is a bit safer. -
juzles38618y@rootshell the only danger is that you must be sure it's completely dry before you reattach it
-
Yep, you have to be sure it is absolutely and completely dry.
Don't use any agressive chemicals, soap is enough.
Additionally i recommend to rinse it with demineralized water after washing. The biggest problem with water damage is not the water itself, but all the dirt and dust particles the water absorbs when getting into elecronics. These particles make it conduct better. The worst for electronics are sugary or other liquids.
Yeah there are some pigs who like to jerk off on a laptop...
I like Louis Rossmann's channel on youtube. He has a boardlevel repair shop in NYC for Mac Books etc.
He can show all the effects nasty liquids have on a laptop. ;)

@qbasic16 Had to +1 you for mentioning him.
Besides all the videos explaining repairs he also has a lot of videos explaining the business side of things which are worth checking out.
My friend was cleaning his laptop's keyboard...
I came back home to this..
