Is it just me or do all developers dream of a simple job like being a cashier after a massive deadline with no sleep

No. I don't. I like to code, but also I like my boss if he knows that I am human and I have limits.

Not a chance.

On the other hand I have the benefit of working on a service we host for our customers so we rarely have all nighters or hard deadlines.

We never fix release date until we believe its done and have on more than one occasion postponed a release to fix issues, once for three weeks. (That is after announcing the release).

But that does not mean we do not have some pressure.

I work for a small company where one dev got fired and two git better job offers so that left me...a junior dev to complete a 4week 3man project by my self

Worked 392 hours overtime 😭😭😭😭

After that i envy simple jobs 🙈
But ill never trade coding for anything else

CASHIER HERE. ITS FANTASTIC. Set hours. No work to take home. Cute coworkers. Weekly paycheck. Easy job to learn. I love it.
