I made my passion my job, programming servers & web dev. Although it has been productive economically it has sucked the fun out of programming servers for me...so as a way to rediscover my passion I'm giving game dev a try. After a couple of weekends playing with a game engine this is what I've got, a monkey dev with a suit that jumps from project cabinet to project cabinet avoiding hazards, drinking coffee and trying to make some money (someone told me I should express myself and I took that personally).

I'm pretty much done but the hazard placeholders (a box and an arrow) don't convince me so I wanted to see if my fellow disenfranchised developers had some ideas of what my developer should be avoiding/being hit by, preferably something I could draw easily since as you can see I'm not much of an artist although I've also though of just words falling like "deadline" or something.

Anyway any feedback is welcome, take it ez I've never drawn anything more than a stickman and this is my first attempt at something playable. Small Rant plus question. Happy Monday.

@gintko that's a good start, I tried slack messages but none of my game testers knew what it was lol

maybe the boxes as dialogs or errors of your typical dev tools? like that IDE one that says "code interpretation is turned of because file to long". Or sth about merge conflicts / server not found / env down / website banned by admin / install failed due to dependecy shenanigans or just a usual "error: error. failed" or "you shouldn't see this. contact s.o."

Edit: and a popup about 50 new mails or 7 missed calls from CEO

@BillLumbergh yea. Well i checked it out and it seems ti be bloated with ads now.. i dont remember that part

@joewilliams007 that’s a shame, I couldn’t find it in the AppStore only similar. It’s a hard dilemma how many or if to put ads. I haven’t decided if I’ll publish it but if I do I would like it to be for free cuz it ain’t that good buut apple would charge me like 100 bucks to keep it there which kinda sucks.

I hate for example what they did with PvZ, I would prefer to pay full price and not have ads.

@BillLumbergh Seems like your working for Apple paying them and making them money by releasing the game.

@joewilliams007 yeah for indie devs outside of the US it’s a big entry barrier to pay 100 bucks and transaction fees for apple.
