I always watch videos, listen to music, .. on the side, I could never go without it.

MM8312072yMusic-wise, I can only listen to things without complex lyrics, singing puts me off. Podcasts are a no, films I can if I've seen them loads before, but even then I find myself pausing them a lot if I've something difficult to work out in my head. I think we just like a bit of comfort noise, but I have to admit, my most productive bursts come with silence.

You can listen to or watch anything as long as it is interesting enough to not be boring and not intersting enough to distract you from coding. For some people, such media just doesn't exist - but most can find something that fits and are then more productive or tire slower than without the extra stimulation.

I watch entire shows and movies and remain relatively productive, I won't ever admit that to my colleagues tho

FlyAway06212y@MM83 Indeed! When I'm coding something complex, the only way to complete it is by turning my music off. Sometimes I use the earphones on mute, just with the silence.

@FlyAway06 Well all my music has videos, even if it's just some fitting background and I also download all of it.

I lose focus within at most 30 minutes if I don't have something. Most of the time it's some random defcon talk or a podcast.
Some Devs at work can listen do podcasts without losing focus. I wonder how they can do that. Maybe it depends?
I love those with horror stories but I always lose track of the narrative.
