The toughest thing is to explain your parents that you are doing something productive when you are sitting in front of your computer for whole day.

Happens to me all the f***ng time!

Make your parents participants of your work. Show them what you are working on and ask them for their opinion.

This might seem useless to you but this very important for a parent. For them, feeling that they are sharing something with their son will make them more open to understand that your hobby is in a computer creating things.

It is normal that they think you spend your time playing videogames because that's what general opinion and mass media make them think you're into and believe me: for some people the digital world is so far away that this kind of approach will mean the world for them.
