PRein11868yI have a friend that is still learning and making obvious coding mistakes and gets frustrated easily. One time she just said:
"If nothing works I'll spam SO untill someone finds my mistake!"
So yeah.. I'd downvote her. You don't go there for people to do your work. That's not how asking questions works.
I've been a noob and I've asked questions and none were downvoted. -
I've answered a lot of noob questions there. The hard questions require quite a lot of experience to answer. When I go there to answer a question, I'm usually blocked after an hour of research at least. And when I do get to ask it, nobody can answer it. Literally. People start bashing me for asking about impossible things. Luckily none of that bashing translates to down-votes.
So I disagree. The best thing to be on SO is a junior that's keen on learning and asking the right questions that are easy to answer by more experienced devs. -
Perhaps it's just me, but I've never been down voted on SO, having used it from absolute noob. Format questions clearly, show you've done research and provide enough information. That's worked for me.

CCTrollz7438y@jschmold same with the reddit JS community. Starting out, I didn't know the difference between JS and Java and you would've thought I talked poorly of all their mothers.
