I like to use programmer logic in everyday conversations, especially with not programmers, like

They: would you like coffee or cake?
Me: yes

The real question is "would you like coffee xor cake?"

Well you ask for coffee and not cake and, then, you ask cake and not for coffee, they would make two trips but you will have your dessert 😬

Sorry Urco, but your logic is flawed. Would you like coffee or cake is the correct question. If no, then present check. If yes, the find out if just coffee, just cake, or both. Fastest way to eliminate those who want neither, while presenting the option for 1, both, or neither.
