A few years ago my friends and I were looking for a bar to hang out at in Amsterdam. We found one that had a nice atmosphere and ordered a drink. We only noticed the unusual supermajority of women ten minutes later. But it was cool so we stayed for a bit

asgs115632y@webketje super majority of women in gay bars? Does that mean they feel safe thinking men won't misbehave? Or they are lesbians?
-
@AvatarOfKaine please, for the sake of all of us - including you - go offline and stay there.
-
Hazarth94862yPffft everything is comfy and fun until enough people join it and ruin it. Leave the gay bars to the gays less you want to ruin it for everyone..
-
@AvatarOfKaine well the next step would be to lock yourself inside a safe room where noone can hurt you... there's a few nice padded ones at certain institutions
-
@asgs it's much harder finding straight men in them and the guys that do like women are on a more liberal mindset. plus lgbt spaces have a different culture regarding harassment, due to the clientele.
my sister loved gay clubs because she could dance freely without guys flocking over -
@webketje you can just admit you met your friend at a gay bar.
Thats a one of a kind story thats sure to confuse people.
"So you're gay?"
"No."
"But hes your boyfriend."
"No."
"But you met him at a gay bar?"
"yes."
"So you're just friends?"
"yes."
"but hes gay?"
"bruh, I met him at a gay bar. Of course he is."

@Wisecrack that would've been a good twist, but we were 3 hetero men and found that bar by coincidence and didn't pay attention to the sign

MM8312272yIn a country like the UK, where drinking holes are often only a misheard comment away from a pub-wide fight breaking out, gay bars/pubs are a good bet for a good night. Nobody actually cares if you're not gay, if you get hit on, it's flattering, and crucially, the bouncers aren't there to get a sly blow or two in when a fight breaks out, but to weed out the pricks who cause them in the first place.

@webketje I would have been more inclined to enter a bar with a majority being women. Though it may have been futile, definitely nicer to look at.
So gay bars turns out to be nice 🙃
