Developers who use spaces make more money than those who use tabs (for indentation) (stackoverflow survey). What do you use?

Stack overflow is full of obnoxious shitheads. Betcha 90% of the participants lied.

I use tabs. Quicker and easier for me to reach.

@jhh2450 yeah me too. Infact I thought nobody used spaces. But...

@divs The argument for using spaces is something about more precise/accurate.

Personally feel it's a waste of time to sit there and count out spaces "1....2.....3.....4.....5....." instead of going "1." with tabs.

I think this is a case of misappropriated statistics.

Just like "People with big feet have better hand writing than people with small feet"

Its statistically correct but does not reveal that the age span it covers starts at 1, and really small children rarely have good hand writing.

So until I have all the facts regarding this statistics I wont fret over it.

For example, cobol used to use spaces and cobol programmers are in very short supply hence can get better salaries.

And I believe a lot of the older gurus might still be using spaces out of old habit and might also have above average salaries.

And nether of these are dependent on the space vs tab, instead both salary and preferred whitespace are dependent on some third party cause.

This is a regular problem with statistics, even if finding correlation you have to make sure you are not just seeing a false one ;)

Could be that space users have a higher control mania and by that are more thorough making less bugs ;)

But I am still, until some one proves otherwise, convinced that there are some other factor than using spaces involved =D

@Voxera Yes, I agree. Those statistics are just a proof not the reason for that.
