Currently at a cyber security event.
The most ironic thing is that the WiFi here is not secured...

    @Linux when you are in a conference with the best penetration testers in the world you probably don't want to connect to a public WiFi...

    What difference does it make if everyone had the password to it?

    @Linux well obviously none.. But you know on the other side when you are in a conference with also the best cyber security personal in the world you would expect at least some kind of protection using the network. They talk all day about securing networks and such and it is funny how they don't have any type of security on their own hardware... I mean if I want I can right now hack their network and have control on all of their tools and do some bad things... They should protect themselves not us 😂

    I think, in that case it does not really matter.

    If they had to hand out passwords to everyone of the visitors, the same problem applies too. They can still attack anyone on that network.

    And if you can hack the hardware, just do it mate, really :) teach them a lesson

    @Linux well that's illegal so probably no...

    But yeah, I would suggest them to just create a separate network for their stuff and one for us :)

    @M1sterShad0w
    Ooooooh, you mean that they have all THEIR equipments on the same Network?
  • 2
    @Linux yeahh they use the same network we all use XD

    @M1sterShad0w

    Oh... I would not be suprised if my grandmother did something like that, but that is really stupid.

    You can just use a VPN. I don't think cybersec experts will have a hard time protecting themselves.

    Probably thought fuck it... if there's no challenge they won't bother.

    "It's a feature."

    It's because encryption is useless against Bruce Schneier

    @elazar haha true. I see you are from Israel so you probably came too, right? He was one of the speakers at the event.

    Are you even sure that it's a real public wifi, instead of a honeypot set up by one of the attendees for giggles?

    @fyzrn well might be, but you'll never know unless you try and connect ;)

    @fyzrn they do this at many security events I've been to. Could still be honey pot though lol. These are not mutually exclusive...

    just look for #BadDevconAdvice on Twitter. I'm quite sure you should not connect your personal Phone to it and you shouldn't log into any personal on a burnerphone either.
