It's funny watching this prime example of confounding correlation with causality.
I just opened the exact same tabs on 2 browsers: Firefox and Google Chrome. Firefox consumed 805MB total, Chrome - 700MB.
Both is a lot, but it's not the browser's fault.
You munchkins have been played, and are playing yourself. Page sizes today are HUGE.
Just 1 minute browsing through Facebook downloads 25MB. 9Gag - 15MB. And that's WITH adblock.
DOM is huge, scripts are bloated, CSS is complicated. Of course there will be a ton of RAM used.
The rise of the page size was observed as Chrome was the most popular browser, so people started blaming it for that. Developers, that make pages fucking huge, can't admit it's their fault, and blame Chrome.
Chrome is the modern-day scapegoat. -
bendulum8907y@apisarenco you are right. I don't have a problem with it, if it eats 5Gb or 10Gb, I feed the beast, because I do use it all day 100% 😈

Complaining about Chrome's RAM usage is like eating fast food.
It's good, it's fast, you love it, all day every day. Then you complain about being fat.
