My Technical lead always asks one question to new interviewing candidates. "Write a SQL query to find the second highest salary from employee salary table". It's the same question which he faced in one interview and he didn't have answered it.

    I had a superior like that before. He would ask interviewees questions to problems he was currently facing because he was shit at his job. I corrected him during my interview and that why I was hired, but he said I "held my ground" instead of admitting to being corrected.

    If you can help him alleviate his pain you have a good chance of getting the job. It's all about 'him'. That is the key.
