    And here I am still forced to use Skype 😥

    @rtfm That's the reason I quit telegram as well! (I find that WhatsApp stores too much metadata and don't trust Facebook owned shit)

    Ok, I admit that Signal might be even more secure, but Telegram is a good middle option that has lots of features (bots, stickers), has still enough users that I know (nobody I am contacting has Signal) and actually cares about your security, even if it stores it. And if you still don't trust it, you can make a secret autodestructive E2E-encripted chat

    @rtfm Signal ftw for sure! Use it for ages now and although it used to be horrible, it works awesome now!

    Telegram is total satanic pile of steaming shite taken in a slime garbage dumpster! Should be avoided like hazardous nuclear waste!

    Telegram is a Russian product so by using it your indirectly supporting Russian aggression against neighbouring states. It's a very weak connection but it's there. At least that's my principle and that's why I won't go anywhere near it.

    Also, I'd rather use an NSA messenger app than a Russian one since we kind of know what NSA does but we have no clue what Russia does and you can bet your arse they are doing something

    @Froot That sounds slightly biased

    @MatiasConTilde The second part, maybe. The first part is just logic

    Go Go Go telegram

    Meanwhile, I am using Threema with end-to-end public key encryption but "it costs 2€ and WhatsApp is free" so nobody uses it 😌

    The problem is getting your contacts to start using the same thing you are.

    Its pointless to have something thats secure yet have all your mates and colleagues not using it in favour of something like WhatsApp

    I think you have gone too far.. Could use that claim for any product.. @Froot

    @boubalo Exactly! That's why I dont use Signal, I'm sure that it's more secure, wit E2E-encription, but nobody I know has an account. Telegram however already have my parents and close friends, the only chat I was using in WhatsApp was my school group, and that's not important to me.

    @hawkes It's also not open source and I definitely don't trust closed source crypto. Also, I've gotta say that although I don't trust any Facebook shit and its not open source, WhatsApp encrypts more by default than telegram so if that's all true (let's assume for a change that it is) then WhatsApp is technically better for your privacy.

    Next to that, I strongly dislike both WhatsApp and telegram!

    @boom Of course you can. That's why using WebStorm creates an everlasting conflict in me 😄

    I try to steer away from Russian products and companies as much as I can. It's worked pretty well so far. Stuff like that is important to me as I live in a country neighbouring Russia
