Gophyr19157y@eisterman Solus isn't really based on a distro- they use lots of standard programs but made their own.
-
Eariel19067yI've found that most people who like that kind of interface weren't working on computers when it was the only available. I love clicks.
-
@Eariel why choose one over the other? I can type way faster than I can click... every modern OS has a desktop UI and a way to access the console. -shrug-
Check out powershell on Windowsπ -
Eariel19067y@MechAnimals, I use the command line a lot. But I'd rather click to an option than ctrl-alt-shift to it. The possibility of not having to remember all the combinations is gold.

Wondering when the debate between gui and terminal would arrise, i like gui its nice, easy to use and gets shit done just how a OS should be, were in 2017 Linux not 2000

cleyton16617yCongratulations buddy. Now you're initiated!!! Welcome to the real world. It sucks, but you're gonna love it.
-
Yay welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games
Ive never tried solus but I see a lot of people using it
@eariel haha, I'm in love with my keyboard and using i3 is love ivent had need for my trackball in a long time, -
@mrtnrdl it's like a OCD.
CLI is a OCD
@jpichardo in my local VM i use i3 too! Such efficiently beauty -
@ninjatini just displays what system your on and other details didn't wanna screenshot the whole desktop
-
@Scrumplex that was going to be my second choice but apparently KDE is quite resource heavy
-
@Kryptic0 it is actually less resource heavy than any gnome (3) based desktop (like budgie)
-
@gruhn It literally took me several minutes to figure out why you're (and me) an idiot π. I'm tired mother of god.
-
@Eariel I think it's very task based. For example, I use Ctrl + alt + t to open a terminal, but the graphical close button to exit it. It's whatever I feel most comfortable with, not whichever I feel coolest doing.
-
As long as it is possible to pipe and compose programs, GUI can never replace terminal.
