    Yes. The ignorance towards computer programming will likely never go away. 😭

    @jhh2450 I don't understand them 😭

    @OneQ They think everyone who is "good with computers" lives in the matrix and go by the name "God" and can fix eve fucking piece of technology immediately.

    Sadly, yes their ignorance is strong

    Definitively. They will also ask for everything that has a screen and/or a wall plug and/or batteries.

    No.

    They will ask you if their inability to understand smartphone basics means they have a virus. But they won't understand No you don't, because they will swear up and down that it looked different earlier.

    @jAsE Problem is, most of the assholes are cheap shits and would want you to fix it for free.

    Can you download me battlefield for free?

    Yes. But If you don't want to do it I have a two-step trick that works pretty well for me.

    First, never provide or install pirated software. If they "just" want windows and office, tell them it's going to be $100 (or whatever it is) for windows and explain them the different subscription choices available for office 365. Ask nicely which one do they prefer. And enjoy the look on their faces.

    Second, always charge them for your work hours. Tell them it's going to be $60/hour but that they shouldn't worry. It won't probably take more than 4 or 5 hours...

    You'll never be repairing PCs again. And if you do, at least there'll be some profit.

    @Letmecode to make it even more enjoyable it's important to be very polite, willing to help and talk about the costs as an obvious thing (as it should be, in fact) 🤣

    @jordinebot and what if this person is someone from your family ? :/
  • 7
    @OneQ $85 an hour. 😂

    They dig up your grave and ask you to fix their printer. Mention yourself as Plumber so you can rest in peace

    Depends on the people.

    "Can you hack my PayPal using HTML?"

    Somewhere a long time ago I did read about a beautiful analogy with astronomy: just because you're an astronomer it doesn't mean you know how to fix a telescope.

    In my case, sometimes I just reply with "sorry, I'm just just some kind of mathematician, I'm not an IT guy"

    It starts going down when you start saying no

    Just do it but break their stuff every time.

    “Oh, you’re a farmer? You must be a great cook then!”

    Totally, yes ;) and most people asking what you're doing won't get it

    @OneQ depends on the person. Of course I've done it for free for my mother, gf, father-in-law... I've charged other family members and I guess others don't dare to ask 🤣

    Wait till they tell you to fix the printer .

    Looks like the next rant answered your question 😂😂😂

    Just fix their computers, it's not hard... You can then ask favors back.

    It doesn't bother me when it's for family but one thing I don't appreciate is when people think you're a sort of "computer wizard" fixing every possible problem in no time and for free.
