Feeling productive at a Sunday evening. Let's install a DNS server and a fucking mail server on two forgotten VPS's I am still paying for.

SO A-FUCKING-PPEARANTLY, THEIR WEB MANAGEMENT PANEL IS FUCKED UP SO I CANNOT REINSTALL MY MOTHERFUCKER VPS's. HOW FUCKING FUCKING FUCKING FUCKING DIFFICULT CAN IT BE.

@heyheni If you have any idea on how to install a Linux system through SSH, PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME :D

I came across remote Ubuntu install wiki once, not sure what connection it was using tho, maybe BMC.

@linuxxx with ssh you can install Linux. It's simple: make a partition smaller. create a partition. install a Linux that can to be installed by hand, like gentoo, on that partition. Change bootloader. install Linux, again something like gentoo, on the original partition. remove the first install of Linux. resize the partition back to normal size. Than it's done.

I really think this is possible, only maybe a fucking useless control panel is easier 😅

@micfort while possible, this sounds like torture. Switch to a more reliable vps provider instead and save yourself the headache.

@linuxxx thanks for the laugh. Good luck.

@micfort yeah, I did this once to install FreeBSD on a vps that didn't offer FreeBSD as an option

@darkcode yeah, I didn't say it was smart or easy, only that it is possible and if you restart and for some reason it doesn't boot up right or if you forget sshd, then your screwed.

@micfort Would this work on a VPS as well?

@linuxxx yeah probably, but I have never tried it before (@ChainsawBaby says he did it). you really need the understand the installing procedures correctly. Also it uses a way of installing that is not supported with every distro, and with that not documented. I know it is documented with gentoo, because that was the only way of installing. So, if I were you I would simple switch vps providers.

@micfort Well thats the thing, I can't find other providers with the same offerings and the uptime/network speeds etc etc are great!

@linuxxx what would you like to have? there are surley many devs here who deal with vps daily and are happy to help you :)

but can't you email the custumer service in order to reinstall your vps?

@heyheni Well in case anyone sees this (it's pretty specific): two vps's of about 2gb ram, 50gb hdd. A couple of other, more low end ones around the world for setting up a VPN network :). Although not a definite requirement, unmetered bandwidth is a pre!

@linuxxx where do you want the two main ones to be?

@ChainsawBaby Don't care that much as long as it's not in the US or UK :). In Europe is a pre though! (latency)
