Google just crossed the line from amazing to scary . It somehow took photos from my phone and arranged it periodically and even named that album like "Jaipur Trip " , "Sunday morning at blah blah.." .

How the frake did it know that i was on a trip to Jaipur ? and how the frake did it identify the exact park's name with scary accuracy..?

P.S. I never gave Google photos any access..And i didnt upload them in drive..

    Fun fact: It even classifies the pictures according to the people in the picture and makes collages of pictures with the same people and also chooses a good filter for some pictures.This is just the ones I have seen.

    If you are using an Android phone, Google is getting all the data from the phone. It is both awe inspiring and scary at the same time.

    The meta which is stored in the picture. It holds things like exact GPS location where the photo was made, the time, the camera app used, and so on.

    And sometimes you dont even need location services to be enabled. Google uses wifi and cell towers to obtain your rough location and then uses your photos to determine where you are with its background comparison algorithms, comparing publicly available photos of that location, like from StreetView

    @Gatgeagent What ?? It doesnt make any sense to include a location inside the meta of a picture !! or is it just with Android ?

    @Gatgeagent agree to disagree... I don't think it's that simple and it recognises faces.Show me a camera app that stores metadata about faces in a picture.

    I wouldn't say it's scary that the phone knows where and when a picture was taken. I mean it has GPS and a clock.

    Haven't phones been able to store geolocation of pictures for like 7 years?

    Most mobile operating systems now include location in your photo’s metadata. Even if you didn’t give explicit GPS access, it’s as easy as recording the locations of the WiFi networks that are around you at the time (even if you never connect to them.)

    @demiko I wish I could. There's no custom rom for my phone and it crashes constantly when I try to remove any Google default installed stuff :/

    @PaddiM8 Even if it is for my service ..How and why did it take the photos i had in my phone ..made an album out of it and sends it as a notification to my laptop..!?.. All scams start off as good ideas..
