So just to clear things up for some social misfits, I am not an actual slut. I was called a "Codeslut" by someone who claims he saw it somewhere and thought it means a positive thing, or whatever. It doesn't matter what his true intent was.

So as a joke, I took it in stride and renamed myself from MissDirection to QueenCodeslut. Problem is I did not k ow at the time that I'd be stuck with this name for 6 months.

But it's fine, I have a good sense of humor. Yet it seems that this gives people carte blanche to call me a slut, or other things. I get that there may be issues with tone and intent in text based communication, and that there are language barrier at times, but keep in mind that I am not a slut. And me being @QueenCodeslut does not mean I wish to be referred to as a slut.

I hope I've made myself clear. Now let's get back to dev-related content.

    Codeslut is better than company slut :)

    @wolt I agree

    @ewpratten The first post with -1 on devRant I've seen 😂
  • 2
    @bcye interesting I don't blame whoever did that tho. That post wasn't exactly useful for anything
  • 2
    @wolt too late..

    Wow, did you really get in trouble just for the name?
    This is the internet being itself again...

    @dfox maybe consider a warning when changing usernames like "are you sure? this can't be edited for 6 months!"
  • 2
    @ryanmhoffman But that is actually there! It's just not visible enough... I'd suggest to make it more visible instead.

    @wolt It doesn't need to be #ff0000...
    Just letting it be white (#ffffff) would be good enough (usually gray text is less considered/noticed by users)
    Maybe also making the font size a bit bigger would help.

    I really like the name @QueenCodeslut. I feel like it reflects the weird feelings one can and most likely will develop about code. Intense feelings quite similar to lust and love. And I like that it isn't political correct and that it's a bit edgy. Screw the hater I say!

    Ok so I couldn't help but google it
    Though I was hoping for something cooler than this... 😅
    Definitely not a positive thing

    I love how mature you are about this. I know plenty of modern feminists that would accuse those people of being "mysognistic pigs" who were "raping them with their thoughts," or some other outrageously stupid claim.

    @bananataco Well, to be fair, Urban Dictionary isn't exactly a fair source of information, since everyone can write random nonsense there and call it a day.
  • 4
    Still better than this

    @Gaetano96 Well thats all I could find :/
    Either google has failed me
    or I lack the googling skills and motivation needed to get to the bottom of this mystery...
  • 1
    Hey, i feel you, im actually not a shark either
  • 1
    lol @wolt @Gaetano96 I clearly have never tried to change my username.... I just assumed it wasn't there because @QueenCodeslut didn't know about it. Keep doing great things dfox.

    On a related note, perhaps if you email dfox and ask privately if he will change it, he might do it. I know before it was possible to change it on your own he did that for a few users so they could protect their identity (I think from employers.)

    I'm so sorry but codeslut is such a turn on.

    Outstanding.

    @ryanmhoffman I might have to, since regardless of biological age, many here are 15. Or maybe I will just take a break from devRant. It's my own fat, really. I thought I could make a funny little joke of being called a codeslut with my username. Lesson learned, I guess
  • 1
    @QueenCodeslut yes there are younger ones on here, but codeslut is hardly the worst language used on here. (I'm thinking of Letmecode's rants...)
  • 1
    @ryanmhoffman what I mean is regardless of actual age, many here are only mentally 15, or at least they act it. Whatever, it doesn't matter. This is just another app on my phone that I'll eventually stop using anyway.

    @QueenCodeslut oh yeah I get what you are saying now. Well some of us would be sad to see you go. You've contributed a lot in the short time since you joined.

    @runfrodorun @QueenCodeslut Honestly I'm surprised that some people actually took the "slut" part literally as well... Quite sad, really :/

    @QueenCodeslut I am 14. I know from recent experience that nobody my age gives a fuck about "bad" language. First day of grade four, I was told what every swearword is and how to "do it" (have sex). It probably isn't different for others.
  • 2
    @ewpratten I completely agree, anyone with that attitude on here can go slow roast their genitals
  • 3
    @AlexDeLarge yeah, irony and humor are lost on many people it seems.
  • 2
    I'm genuinely sorry this had to happen...
    Though I'm glad that you're back to @MissDirection. For your own good.
