What kind of effed up world sells scale that comes with an app that requires you not only to register for an account but also give it LOCATION INFORMATION and people are OKAY with it?

Tech doesn't need "innovation". It needs a revolution

Isn't it just that giving bluetooth access to an app will reveal your location?

oh. interesting. That's more of UI issue on the android side

But still the fact I need to register an account a scale is absurd to me

@iceb well, it communicates to the user that they should give the permission only if they trust the app with it. The OS cannot know or control how the app will use the information, only that it can use it. In other words, the app isn't necessarily asking for location, but it is asking for information that could reveal location.

    From the docs:
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION is necessary because, on Android 11 and lower, a Bluetooth scan could potentially be used to gather information about the location of the user.

On Android 12, the app doesn't need location permission for this but the scan result will be filtered.
