I keep trying to convince myself (in spite of repeated evidence) that these reports of shit idiot men say to girls in tech are made up. I struggle to believe there are so many institutionally stupid people around. But it seems there are.
Sorry you had to go through that but major kudos for achieving what you have regardless of the discouragement. -
@MissDirection yea. Was my top school choice until that point. Love the school I went with instead.

krlooss4917yNot to his defense but for something else. Almost all my CS teachers were women, and almost all females who started the same year as me switched to either business, psychology or languages after the first or second semester
-
@krlooss I see that with male students too though. My lower division classes where always full (2 or 3 sections of 30ish students) but once I got upper division it went down to 1 section of 10-15 students per class. It might be more noticeable when the ladies change because there are fewer of us to begin with, at least at my school.

ctwx3617yGreat to hear that. I had very talented female colleagues in University as well. Congrats for your success!

I'm not sure if I'm more bothered to hear that sentiment from men or women...
...both. it's both -
krlooss4917y@r0b0tk1ss3s I guess it is more noticeable for men when woman leave since we are actively happy for them to be around. And I'm guessing the same may apply the other way around.

nickj51637yit's true tho, aparently many people say girls change from com sci to graphics design because they "cant handle it". they just dont realize that girls can be great programmers as well as boys.
-
This is kind of awkward because I went to school with a girl who did just that 😲

Sasakiska94yIn fact, you should not listen to anyone who tries to call someone. It is necessary to study hard analytical articles about particular specializations. You should look at your talents and aspirations and then decide. Because so many people make the wrong choice simply by ignorance and draw for a particular specialty something that is not there. Because in order to better understand the picture, you should study the https://homework-writer.com/blog/... and then you will immediately understand that it is better to bypass at admission, if you do not have some special knowledge and talents. I hope that it was useful!

Worst 'advice' from a college recruiter:
"O you want to major in computer science? Well our school is fantastic for women in comp sci because WHEN they find it too difficult they can easily transition to graphic design. How do you feel about graphic design?"
I decided that school was a bad choice.
Graduating this year with my BS in Comp Sci and going for my Masters in Robotics. Screw that guy.
