    There is no such thing as "enough monitors"

    @ItsNotMyFault maybe you're right but those 4 monitors will be enough for some time after working on 3 of them for a year or so.

    If those are all running off you laptop i hope your laptop doesn't spontaneously combust from all the gpu cpu graphics load.

    Hm... Guess I need to talk to my IT head... I only have 2... I think...

    I feel dizzy 😵

    not enough. need more. where is the 50" monitor ? no 50" ?

    @Matthewb Nope, my laptop is still quite powerful in that configuration. It have i7 and GeForce GTX 960M graphics under the hood. Laptop screen is 4K and Asus monitor (the bottom left one) is a portable monitor connected only via USB and it doesn't strain the graphics. Usually I have many apps running and everything works fine.

    Surely you only need two monitors at most? (I'm not jealous, honest...)

    I see a pattern here... You like Acer, right?

    @console There is enough space for 2 more monitors. With a small help of some handles I can fit another 3 monitors. I bet the laptop will burn in that setup ;)

    @Kalvin Nope, I don't like Acer. I like Asus tho ;)

    @beriba how much time do you spend looking for the pointer?

    i have a fever... and the prescription is... more monitors!!! (or cowbell)

    @simus Actually none or close to none. I just approximately know where it was and after moving it I see exactly where it is. It never was a problem. Either way I try to use only keyboard whenever I can.

    The top left monitor looks so awesome, what's its model?

    One does never have enough screens!

    Dinesh, is that you?

    Anyway, I can never understand what people do with so many monitors, I swing back and forth between 1 and 2 monitor configurations and ocassionally it's nice to have two monitors, but mostly I work with only one monitor. I'm ok with two monitors, sometimes even grateful, but I wouldn't know what to do with a third monitor. In fact, the company was offering me another monitor and I refused.

    @Bikonja Right now I have browser, postman, console and phpstorm opened. Each on separate screen and I don't have to do Alt+Tab every time to see some information. It makes work more productive.

    @beriba you still have to alt-tab or click to shift focus to the other window. To me, I might as well press alt-tab then... In some cases it's realtime changes so that's great, but most of the time I have to click or press a key in the other window at which point the original one stops being relevant so there's really no point in having multiple monitors for me.

    @Bikonja I'm just saying about reading information. I know that I still need to be in the window if I want to make some action. But it's easier to focus on that window using mouse on multi-monitor than searching for window using Alt-Tab. I don't know how you work but it's easier for me to do my work on 4 monitors rather than on 2.

    Nah you need one really big one as well... people flock to my mac like pigeons to maccydees fries.

    Mac monitor (the biggest, stupidest one you can find)... MacBook and iPad Pro and I'm set =P

    A little sarcastic btw dw. My backup is a Citrix thin with duals and a hp laptop... the iPad needs no backup because it's basically a Trello screen when I'm not drawing.

    @ItsNotMyFault the correct amount of monitors to have is n+1 where n is the amount you currently have.

    If you're married it's x-1 where x is the amount that causes your inevitable divorce.

    @jamescodesthing I'm not married so the rule is: "have as many monitors as your bank account can handle"? If so, I need much bigger desk ;)
  • 2
    @beriba where d is deskspace and m is the amount of money you have after rent and food:

    N = N + 1 while the following rule is satisfied:
    Nd < d && Nm < m

    If both rules are at their limit then R is total resolution and it should always be 4K more than you currently have ='P

    My algebra is a bit pisspoor, this is why I code.

    Edit: also you have to account for how many monitors your graphics card(s) can handle but that's an advanced equation for a different time.

    Edit2: I forgot to mention how much I love this community.

    I used to have 3 monitors on my gaming station decided to remove them because couldn't focus on gaming xD But it's practical when you're grinding and watching Netflix at the same time

    @jamescodesthing That's why I bought USB monitor which does not rely on graphics (it have some hardware inside)
  • 1
    You need a bigger monitor ^^

    @PrivateGER I considered buying 43" 4K monitor (monitor, not TV) but right now that would be an overkill. But some day I'll buy it for 3D modeling and be sure I'll post a photo here ;)
