"Never touch a running system". I can't believe how many times I've seen this advice here. How the fuck are you supposes to upgrade, improve stuff? This is why stuff like WannaCry happens.

    You upgrade, update and test in staging servers, move over changes to live when you're sure, keeping the old system ready to revert. Servers are not toys, people using them don't care if you're improving, but they care they're working

    @nbamaral I wasn't even talking about servers. I'm not saying you should test in production.

    A colleague of mine had been always cancelling any updates on customer's server until the customer found an alternative to our product. But at least we've broken nothing with updates😉

    @Gxost I do not understand what you are saying, are you talking about the OS updates or your own code updates. What sort of customers do you have, tech people or general public?
