As an AI language model, I don't have personal opinions or feelings, but I can provide guidance. It's generally a good practice to consult with your colleagues before pinging them to ensure you're reaching out at an appropriate time and for a relevant reason. Respect their availability and workload to maintain a productive and considerate work environment.

Makes sense. Consult with your colleagues before pinging them

Or read the bold red letters I put on the page from the last time you asked me this question.

@black-kite how tf am I supposed to consult my colleagues without pinging them?

    Ping.

Google is evil, ChatGPT too - hence I ping you.

Just consistently reply with a LMGTFU (https://letmegooglethat.com/) and after a few days they might learn.
  • 2
@devdiddydog so is the new RTFM? I approve of this message.

So what if it is about how to google correctly?

You are clearly too approachable or too intelligent? Which is it? I can help with the approachable thing.

not entirely sure why people don't like other people asking them questions. do you know a better solution than random upvote-farming assholes on SO? do you know it off the top of your head, so they don't waste 20 minutes searching docs because SO's copy-paste solution doesn't work? what about any possible issues that don't show up in searches at all?

in my experience, "just google it" works for about 20 minutes and then you hit an issue that is completely impossible to fix because the only information is one mention in 1999 on usenet and there was no response on fixing the issue. i'd imagine this problem is even worse in a corporate environment, where solutions are often pay-gated and the docs may be a premium package no one wants to pay for.

if the issue is basic inability to read docs, sure. be an asshole to people under you, i guess. don't just throw out all issues raised because "lol just google it."

@Parzi read my rant again, dumbass. I said learn to google before u ask me. Implying that whoever is asking me questions isn't doing his own research first.

Do I need to simplify it further to you?

@SidTheITGuy apologies, yours and 600 other rants a day tend to all blur together after a while, since half this platform is screaming "waa i don't want to talk to juniors waa" every weekday, and "boy am i glad those juniors fucked off :)" every weekend. glad to know that you did actually add goalposts, even if they are taped to a moving train.
