Kimmax109877yThat should be a false report if it's a oneplus device. I found the same thing and checked with root apps to see the real battery usage and it's not what android shows.
Still let's notify @dfox here, in case something changed in the last updates -
dfox426037yBattery usage needs to be compared for time the app was used vs time other apps were used and how much battery each one used. Without relative data to compare or some kind of indication of how long the app was used for it's impossible to tell if there's an issue.
-
dfox426037yAlso just to add, like @Kimmax said, I haven't really seen any reports of high battery usage relative to other apps. The point being if you use the app for hours, it's going to use a lot of battery. But the question would be how that usage compares to other apps used.

It's a moto g5 plus if that helps at all. Thing is, I've used the app for maybe 15 mins max today. I've had to charge twice and usually easily get away with a day and a half without charging.
I tried force closing but the battery issue persisted so maybe not this app? I'll try uninstalling tomorrow and see whether that makes a difference and report back.
Not sure whether this screenshot helps at all but that's all the apps listed on the battery section of my phone. -
galena71777yIve had similar problems with the Fallout 4 pipboy app. My phone got hot like a bbq and the battery was done in like have a day. Dont know y tho. I just uninstalled it. Afterwards it was just fine.
-
dfox426037y@CodeKill that's very odd. Haven't heard of any issues like that. It seems almost impossible any app could use that much battery (a healthy battery) in 15 mins. Especially if you forced closed. Might be worth disabling background usage for the app (which we don't use anyway), but force closing should have resulted in the same thing.
-
dfox426037yAlso, is there any screen on Android, like iOS that shows the amount of time (foreground and background) that the app was used?
-
@dfox Checked Play store and it's up to date so latest version.
Does the image help with the aforementioned? -
@dfox
Ok uninstalling now so I'll see what battery life is like tomorrow - but look the mAH used seems pretty high to me. -
@dfox Battery usage has been normal today after uninstalling devRant.
Image show usage just before I installed again. -
dfox426037y@CodeKill extremely odd. Did you have notifications enabled? Even so, I'm not sure how an app can use any battery after being force killed, that part doesn't really makes sense to me and the app isn't supposed to use any background. Is there anything you have installed/any settings that might change the behavior of background/foreground/notif activity for apps?
Also, do you remember if you have the issue before the last update? (in 1.9.4, before 1.9.5). -
@dfox I installed the app a few weeks ago - I'm not sure if that helps with the version I was on. It was fine for just over a week and then the issues started. I did have some notifications enabled.
I can't see the usage of the app since I reinstalled as I haven't done a full charge yet - I'll do that later and see what is showing in the battery section of the settings, although I do have to say that the phone is nowhere near as warm as it was the other day before uninstalling! -
dfox426037y@CodeKill thanks for the info. I might try reverting one change that was made in the last version for specific devices, though honestly I'm not sure if that's the issue. But it does seem very odd that an issue like you're seeing wouldn't appear right away, maybe pointing to new version.
-
@dfox maybe hold off until I see what it's like until after a full charge and usage for a day? Nobody else seems to be having the issue (that I've seen).
-
dfox426037y@CodeKill ok, thanks, I appreciate you testing it. It's a bit odd that no one else has reported it but I guess not impossible that people just don't pay attention in general. Either way, I'll get an APK ready and if you're still able to reproduce now, then I can send you the test APK if you'd be willing to to see if that corrects. Thanks again.
-
@dfox No problem. I'll see what happens over the weekend and send an update. Keep up the good work (and maybe get some more cartoons on YouTube ;) )
-
@dfox After removing and installing again, it seems to have sorted itself. Not sure why that happened but devRant isn't even showing on the battery panel now and battery life seems back to normal. Thanks for the swift response.
-
dfox426037y@CodeKill thanks for the update. That is so weird, I'm not sure what happened there. I appreciate you helping debug this and please let me know if it starts happening again or if you figure anything else out.

Just wondering if anyone is noticing high battery drain since installing devRant Android app?
I've lost over 50% battery this morning and it's showing high use by this app.
