This weekend I gorilla glued a laptop hinge back together. My kid kept slamming the laptop lid closed fast. The lid also got shoved into a desk where I think it was putting stress on the lid. It caused the lid to separate from the hinge plastic a bit. I put some gorilla glue in there and putting clamps on it. It glued up nicely. Then we had a talk about laptop treatment and care.

i remember, that on one of my old laptops the hinges were rather sensitive and broke after a while (You know, an inserts into plastic type deal).

    So what i did:
i basically drilled two holes into the aluminum back cover and put two bolts through, to hold everything in place. To top it all off, i did shorten the bolts with a grinder, while they were installed. I remember not even turning it off, because i was so angry at the hinges breaking at the worst possible moments. The bolts ended up not being visible from the front (covered by the frame), and only two round caps were visible in the back.

That was one of the most scuffed builds ever.

However, this hinge outlasted the rest of that device.

@thebiochemic I could see wires running through there. I did think about doing something like that, but I figured I would hit a wire and poof.
