Ah, I made "excel" many years ago, too. But only once.

Nearly all our end-user apps that have data grids have a 'Export to Excel' option. Ended the countless requests of "Can you guys add a column that adds these two other columns and displays the sum at the bottom, just like Excel?"

One dev thought he could create his own 'Excel-lite' because he thought it was stupid to have a export to Excel feature. "Its only data in a grid, how hard could it be?" He quickly discovered why Microsoft has hundreds of software engineers across several countries working on their office suite.
