!rant

I promoted duckduckgo to friends on Facebook and got them in a discussion about it. People generally are fairly receptive (with one annoying uncle pointing out the irony of posting it on Facebook xD).

One mentioned it was difficult to switch because Google was "just there", so I pointed to instructions on how to make it default.

Also enticing them with theme changes.

Feels good. Next to teach them how to use proxies :p

meta rant: I categorised this as a rant/story, mainly because it is related to tech, should I have just done "random"?

@linuxxx I should try Firefox again, last time I did it froze consistently. Should be okay on this phone though.

Well one of my cousins said she'd try it so happy days

@linuxxx Chrome's the best browser. Especially if you're a web dev, there there's no competition

    @Froot for mobile?

ddg is so much better than google, even if you disregard the privacy side, bangs make searching a lot easier

@Hedgepig Ah missed that bit. Well on android it's the default and it works well so why bother

@RodrigoF annoying it doesn't let me add DDG as default search engine
  • 1
I haven't really use ddg much. How are its search capabilities compared to google?
  • 0
@tilde it seems pretty much equal so far

Bing and Internet Explorer are all you really need. I don't know why this is even a debate. Just Bing It. You'll see.
  • 1
@Froot Respectfully disagree! I even find Chromium worse than Firefox :)
  • 1
@RodrigoF Why would you need flash? The sites that still use it? Fuck these sites, it's time they catch up with the times 😋
  • 1
@linuxxx I knew you would. That was half the point 😊

@linuxxx I'm here to tell you that I use tutanota too, and is only because you posted something about it some months ago, you can be proud to be speeding the word now xD
  • 0
@vhoyer Oo you're using it because I posted something about it a while ago?
  • 1
@linuxxx precisely, but I won't remember when, since you post so many things hahaha

@Froot Thanks for reminding me that I also have to support some legacy Flex sites.

I had finally blocked those from my mind. Now I have to start my therapy all over again.
