RTRMS36907y@tahnik oh I know it's not bad, it's strange I guess. MS used to be the one company we could all universally get behind and hate, maybe not for the same reason, but they have gone through so much trouble to fix that.
Open sourcing stuff
Making browser no longer shit
Making windows less shit, in some ways, but that's still a point of contention among users.
Letting us use their software on not their platform, and now a browser on phones that are not theirs. Odd...
Apple is doing a good job of taking over their marketing g department has seemed to have teamed up with hardware and software devs teams to universally piss of users with bad builds, buggy software, shitty ideas and holey shit balls have you seen the price. But hating them is just does not work, their fan boys just get really whiney. -
RTRMS36907y@ViRaS did you miss the news, was announced 2 or 3 days ago and if I read the headline properly the beta landed for android and ios sometime yesterday.
-
It's good for those that use PC's as there will be much better integration between the platforms. Also, Edge for android will use chromium while iOS will use webkit. So even if you don't like Edges native web renderer, that shouldn't be an issue.
-
RTRMS36907y@Telescuffle totally defeats the purpose really then, edge has a good engine and using safaris engine they mat as well be releasing ie6, it's almost more useful than that toss pot.
-
@RTRMS not really. Apple don't allow for other render engines. So edge with with safari engine is still better than no no edge in my opinion. This way people have PC integration. This way the OS will maximise performance and battery life. Same applies with Chromium for android.
Although i will admit, i like the Chikara engine. Bit being the same engine as IE, it does have some issues. -
RTRMS36907y@Telescuffle really seems like a waste of dev time realising your browser to another device and being forced to use a vastly inferior rendering engine, just because said manufacturer is self entitled dick. Overall rite now edge does have the most battery efficient rendering engine of the lot. So that excuse is BS.
Apple just knows if they don't force them to use their inferior product, their isheep are going to realise just how piss poor a job they are doing.
All hail the new "ie" -
@RTRMS I agree. But the options are either to release the browser under apples terms and possibly get people to start using it on there PC's because the mobile app makes use of better integration when compared to using two separate browsers. Or they can not release it and not get as many potential users.
-
RTRMS36907y@Telescuffle yes, but you cannot even set it as the default on an apple device, so your target market are smart people interested in customisation, those use android.
-
@RTRMS true. I think android should be the primary. But let's just agree to disagree about ios 😂
