So i just read an article by The Verge on some good and bad things about the pixel 2.

Listed as a con: "Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL... have the same camera"

HOW THE FUCK IS THAT A BAD THING!?

So it's bad that they don't cut down the camera on the cheaper phone to make the XL more appealing?

I really don't get wtf they're on about...

    well, the other way to look at it is... XL == Premium so why am I getting the same camera... I paid more so I should get a better one.

    Then again... why are Pixels specs similar to phones I can prolly get for $300 cheaper... (I don't know the actual specs just that in general these phones are overpriced compared to smaller more techy brands)

    @billgates But how long will those cheaper phones get updates for?

    @Devman until modders stop making custom roms for it.

    My OnePlus One is running Lineage (Android 7.1), its a bit buggy but pretty good.

    My dad's Nexus 5 was running 4.0.... that was an official Google phone... aka... I get more updates than a Google phone.

    OnePlus is love. Maybe LibrePhone in a few years.

    @ThatDude not yet ;)

    Let's be fair though you're gonna hit 10k before me and you deserve it ❤

    @billgates but making a better camera would probably be impossible than the already superb one.

    @Dacexi not if it costs more than other phones... otherwise why should i pay more for it?

    Anyway I aint buying a new phone til my current ones goes bye bye... 3 more years at least hopefully....

    Honestly these days I don't even use most of its power... just reading, internet, books, video, camera...

    no its bad because they don't have a higher resolution camera on the XL

    @billgates But the Nexus 5 came with 5.0 ...and was officially upgraded to 6. And has custom ROM on 8 already.

    @justsomeguy ok i was off by one. Custom roms != official support which i think is what @DevMan was talking about

    @billgates But the example you gave that "you get more updates than a google phone" was with a custom ROM. You gotta allow it on both sides or neither side. Can't be one sided

    @justsomeguy ok.. but my point i guess was for $300 more, u aint gonna get more Google love

    @billgates Except in that specific example, the Nexus 5 wasn't $300 more, it was fairly cheap (the good ole days of Nexus) 😛

    But yes, you're right. The Pixel and any other "premium" flagship device for that matter is horrible in terms of value. I mean I have one, but I'm a phone junkie, get a new one like every 6 months. (I have a problem...)

    @justsomeguy nexus 5 came with 4.4. Have been upgraded to 6.0.1

    @Swagger Yes, you're right, it came with KitKat on launch date but definitely not ICS (as originally mentioned)

    @ThatDude what bugfix?

    @ThatDude o shit. I got super confused yesterday like "how did I gain 200 points wtf"
  • 1
    @billgates it's cheaper than the note 8

    @billgates sorry if I'm late btw, but I'm currently using a Nexus 5 on Android 7? And I didn't flash it. Was ota updates.
