Is it a mobile thing? Is there mobile Linux? Asking for real. I don't know

    @projektaquarius
There are like 20 Smartphones with "Ubuntu-Phone" Out there ;-)

@projektaquarius Android is technically a modified linux kernel though. Not "heavily modified" just "modified"

Bois. Its a desktop app (win + mac) with support for android + ios. They're missing any Linux distro

@rhein7 can you use Ubuntu on your phone with normal desktop apps? I once flashed it onto my nexus 5 but it was slow AF and the apps were fucking browsers loading and displaying fucking mobile website versions
  • 1
It supports any platform, iOS, macOS, FireOS, FirefoxOS, webOS, windows xp, vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, all linux distros, ReactOS and other OSses I didnt mention.

@b3b3 I never tried but documentation says:

"Ubuntu Touch utilizes the same core technologies as the Ubuntu Desktop, so applications designed for the latter platform run on the former and vice versa."

@rhein7 was too slow for me anyways :) I tried to make a messenger app (qt+c) but failed hard so I just installed android again

@b3b3 Yes. I think there was a reason why they stopped supporting it...

Guess their users have no clue Linux exists

@b3b3 ok I can appreciate the issue more now

Aren't you linux guys such big fans of your Open Source alternatives anyway?πŸ˜‹

And if it is Open Source, just compile it yourself.πŸ€”

@daintycode I didn't want to download it. It was visiting a retarded website and they were asking me to download it since it was for all platforms. I was just curious whether it really is for all platforms or not. And this is the result i guessπŸ€—

Edit: it triggered me that they were advertising it as for all platforms but it isn't and not that its not open source. So I guess I don't really care

@b3b3 I was just jokin around, i see your point.πŸ˜…

    ”No Symbian compatibility? An outrage!”
  • 1
@b3b3 I’m not a fan of qt at all... ropey as hell.

Also I think they were just after a snappy line 😜 it’s sounds better than “we’re okay with losing less than 5% of the mobile market share because y’all aren’t gonna be worth that much”.

If they have a web version then they’re probably compatible with a tonne of platforms 😊

I hope their security is good though, this screams “unzip our apk and see what you find” to me.

@Jop- I think they use the same logo for their mobile platform, so it’s probably just iOS, droid and windows UAT.

    I’m guessing Cordova.

@jamescodesthing but where are the other platforms then?
  • 1
@Codex404 in heaven without trash apps like that one I guess
  • 1
@Codex404 sleeping... there are only 3 platforms, the rest are taking a nap.

I can imagine the return of investment on making a windows phone port.
  • 2
    All platforms you say?
Neat, looking forward to trying this one on my Solaris system.
