Spotify, I don't think "changelog" means what you think it means.

    Too many do this...

    @Nebyular but that's new 🤔(change log)

    Also known as
    “We have no freaking idea what we just pushed to production”

    THAT is what pisses me off! IT'S NOT SO HARD TO WRITE A DAMN CHANGELOG!

    Pretty sure Spotify has a lot of a/b testing on the desktop app. Maybe they do the same thing with the Android app? Writing changelogs would then be useless

    Their commit log must be funny

    What could possibly be “marketing” value in a useless change log message?

    They haven’t told me anything that’s been changed from the previous release that I could possibly go “OMG I got to check that feature out”

    I think changelogs are inherently not aimed at end users. This is an ok approach in handling not communicating unnecessary technical details.

    Their blog has a lot of interesting stuff, pity about their changelogs. I wish I could switch from GPM but GPM has uploaded music to all devices as a killer feature for me

    Was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Sucks ass.

    That might means two things:
    a) We really fucked up in previous version
    b) We are afraid of fucking up in following versions, so we're preparing ourselves for it.

    In most of devs' life there's a moment when we start understanding that in our culture it's accepted to kinda keep your errors with you. That's not really spread among the rest of people in society.
    We got used to it thanks to tools like git, where we dont delete the version where we fucked up, we simply fix it.

    @daegontaven
    That's not marketing a at all. What I call that is laziness.

    This is a changelog. It includes all new changes.

    1. The update had changes

    Well that is it really...

    @Condor Honestly, I'm kind of okay with that one. They're at least directing you to an external changelog rather than just telling you to keep your updates turned on.

    @daegontaven
    Wait, no I think you got that wrong.
    I meant the “we changed something but can’t be bothered telling you” logs are useless.

    But the most upfucking thing is, it is always there and never change
