Client: We want a mobile shooting game with multiplayer, In-app purchases, leaderboard and stuff and you should also help us in publishing it.

Me: Cool what’s you budget?

Client: max $100.

I never replied again.

@runfrodorun Believe me or not there are people like that. I am from a third-world country and one of my classmate does projects and assignments for $5 on fiverr. He once spent 10 hours on a project for $5. We still roast him to this day.

@Lahsen2016 I could’ve done that but it would have taken me a couple of days and might have annoyed the hell out of me for doing things the worst way.

Congrats, you have lost the $100k.

@Biggy I don’t think so he got back to me and said he could go to $200 max.

    Would have replied ‘100k’ ?

I usually send my proposal to such clients with reasonable quote and requirements breakdown in brief and estimated timeline. Hoping they would learn something. Pretty sure they do. None of them contact me anymore.

All you had to do was take the hundred and make a successor to Stick Fighters.

    Maybe he meant 100K

@theScientist I collect and define as much requirements as I can. After that, break down the requirements into features/milestones. Calculate estimated development time in hours/days for each features/milestones. Add estimated commitment hours for testing and meetings. Finally possible travel expenses. I already have an hourly value I set for myself. So I just use it and adjust a bit to come up with final quote.

Good job for not doing the job :+1:

Maybe, just maybe, they count in millions ?

@theScientist I also consider the nature of client and relationship between me and the client. If it is someone I'm closed to, of course, I charge lower. If it is some stranger and you have a feeling that he/she will be a tough and annoying client during the project, DO charge higher.

    probably some kid

Would it be mean to make a bot that replies such clients, only to waste their time?
  • 2
    @PunkerenxD Not really.

@gary this. People in México degrade developer's income by accepting so little per project. That's the reason why my country receives investment...cause we're cheap.
