Umidigi, kindly go fuck yourself.

When --> I <-- buy a phone, I should be the fucking one who decides if I'm allowed to install a motherfucking custom launcher.

Your phone is awesome (second full day with heavy usage == 53 percent battery) but on the launcher thing, go fuck yourself. Also go to hell. No, go fuck yourself IN hell, that's even better.

    Rooting and flashing custom ROMs is the first thing I do with my phones. My nexus 5 from late 2013 has got Oreo now and is still working quite decent 👌

    Uhm didn't u flash a custom OS and enable God Mode? Why can't you change the Launcher app?
  • 5
    @billgates @b3b3 There's no custom roms yet for this phone :/
  • 3
    @linuxxx didnt u install TWRP.. u can flash anything u want... including Google stock ROM?
  • 4
    @billgates Sure you can but that doesn't mean the hardware is compatible!
  • 3
    :/ I told you... Anyways, I feel sorry for you.

    Also you might've gotten that trojan... Better check with wireshark if there's anything suspicious.
  • 5
    @theCalcaholic I block everything except for a few apps through a root firewall so that's unlikely :)
  • 5
    @runfrodorun Already rooted it so yeah.... :/
  • 3
    If you're lucky... I mean if there's a preinstalled trojan, it most certainly runs as root, so it *could* work around the firewall - the only question is if the devs did think of it and cared enough.
  • 5
    @theCalcaholic True. Let's see how it goes :)
  • 4
    @linuxxx couldn't you just unroot it?
  • 8
    I read it like "when pipe buy a phone"
  • 4
    @Olverine Yeah but I think there's a flash counter somewhere and then I'd be fucked.next to that, I overflashed the bootloader.

    @linuxxx Btw, I had another look at the test which talked about the trojan and apparently they based this on the scan results of an Antivirus app (so it might or might not be a false alert).
    The app in question is called 'QK_cloud_sync_abroad'.

    Here's a screenshot of the scan results (from the article): https://chinahandys.net/wp-content/...

    And here's a link to the test itself (in German - maybe it's closer enough to dutch for you to understand? :P): https://chinahandys.net/umidigi-c2/

    Hope it's useful.

    Was pretty inclined to buy the Umidigi S2. I did not because of it now being a well known manufacturer... Looks like I dodged a bullet

    @linuxxx is it possible to sideload?
  • 2
    How would they even block that on android?..

    I just have to say...
    Welcome to iPhone of Androids 😂😂😂
    So much for freedom...

    Btw, what email service do u use?
  • 1
    @Electrux tutanota.com :)

    @JoshBent Maybe just hardcoding the launcher setting in the rom?
  • 0
    @linuxxx cool!
    Lol whenever u recommend something, I’ve never heard of it 😂😂😂

    Btw what do u think of proton mail?
  • 1
    @Electrux I think the service is awesome but it seems to me personally that they're going more and more commercial. Which isn't bad but quite some companies lose track of what they stand for when becoming more commercial.

    @linuxxx oh... ok cool...
    M so far from being secure ( being tightly bound in apple’s and google’s eco system right now...
    But well, someday perhaps 😊😊

    Thanks! ✌🏻
