Not a valid reason.

Warn the user, and let them opt out at their own risk.

I had to do a regedit to disable updates, and they can STILL force some updates onto me..

@Cyanite a vulnerable computer is not your own risk. Similarly to why vaccination should not be optional.

People rant about Windows being vulnerable (back in the day) and now rant about Microsoft doing the right thing.

That being said, they shouldn't be doing this during your working hours. And they actually don't.

@elazar exactly the problem of wannacry in big companies was that a dumb user took the malware, and spread over the LAN to all not updated pc (using a samba vulnerability)

I once attended a lecture at university and at some point windows decided it would be a good moment to reboot and to apply updates. Some swearwords were spoken but he simply continued without visuals.
Incidentally, this was the only time he used his laptop because he would normally use his iphone without any issues.

I still have a windows 10 PC for testing purposes.

One fucking update failed to install, can't find the reason anywhere. No errors in event logs, just "failed to install" in windows update log.

Every single shutdown and boot, it tries to install and configure that update again, taking 10-20 minutes every time. I've tried all kinds of tips from MS to repair corrupted update catalogs etc... none of them working.

I wouldn't mind it if fixing was just a complex operation, but it's so fucking opaque and cryptic.
