Boo boo, Apple is artificially slowing down old devices so people buy new ones 🤡

EVERY phone becomes slower over time because of battery degradation. I’ve changed my iPhone’s battery yesterday, and it’s as fast as new now.

Morons.

I'm not sure who it is that you're dissing.

A degraded battery doesn't magically make the phone slower, it's up to the software to decide that.

@electrineer so far, this is the list of non-Apple phones I used that became slower over time:

    - Sony Xperia TX

    - Meizu m3s

    - Xiaomi Redmi 6

    - Huawei Ascend P6

    - Nokia 5228

I rooted my Sony back in the day. I installed all kinds of battery tweaks after watching the video on why phones become slower over time. Nothing helped.

If it's indeed the code that makes it slower, as you stated, this code is used by literally everyone, and there is no point in blaming Apple exclusively.

@ostream you mean on my Sony? I tried everything, including different roms, apps and xposed tweaks

Uhm, but they do do it: https://google.com/amp/s/...

It's obviously not caused *by the battery" as that would make no sense, the CPU is not magically throttling based on lower voltage, otherwise your phone would be progressively slower as it discharges too. It's the software they designed to "protect" the phones :) instead of a fast phone for one more year you can get a slow phone for 3, or until it pisses you off so much you buy a new one.

    Convenient, isnt it?

The gouging of in app payments on iOS already convinced me Apple were a force for wrong over a decade ago when building my first mobile app. It's just that Microsoft are at least as shitty, so they can get away with it.

Linux isn't perfect by any means but there are many ways in which the user experience is better. It really grinds my gears that on both Mac OS and Windows when a comparatively minor update comes in it blocks you from doing anything for ages. On Ubuntu I can update between different LTS versions and keep working the whole time.

@ostream yep, both my redmi's stayed as fast all the way through. The battery stayed strong too.

(sidenote, the camera on Redmi Note 10 is awesome. The camera on Redmi Note 11 and 12 is absolute dog shit)
