@darrenrahnemoon how exactly? The expected return type is None and None is returned.
-
@jespersh I think the idea was to return the size. Note that nothing is returned.
-
@Grumm even the docs we do have read like high school essays that are trying to maximise the word count with the least amount of information 😞
-
@jasongodev I actually think with a much bigger asynchronity, you might ask me something and I’ll have a proper answer a few hours later. In the office this is much harder to do because people see you and therefore think you’re free to think about their problem.

I worked at a very international company and whenever someone came back from their country they brought super interesting food. For example, Chinese sweets are super weird but in a fascinating way.
I disliked everything else. -
My brain completely blacked out when I had to solve FizzBuzz in Python, so I just explained what I would have done and they helped me with the implementation. It was probably not a big deal because I got hired anyway.
-
@mysshell either I’ve been lucky my whole life or it’s something else 😁
-
@Tonnoman actually quite the opposite, Torvalds even said that it’s ironic how his desktop OS was dominating server and mobile, but not desktop.
-
@Tonnoman this might be the most accurate depiction of the difference between the two
-
@donuts most games don’t even download on data. But let’s be real, how often do you need to download or update a game?
-
Because storage is no longer a concern, at least not as much as it used to be. I’m casually walking around with over 128 gigs, and at home I have something like 25 teras. 10 years ago my flat would’ve been considered a data centre.
-
@anux I’m surprised they agreed to that, maybe they’re desperate
-
@molaram the intent. But that’s not what I was saying.
-
@dumbdev the problem is that with a small company it’s very easy to figure out who left the review. If I go on my previous company’s reviews I know exactly who wrote what.
-
While it’s good to be cautious, not everyone is evil. In fact, I’d say most people are nice unless you happen to be in an industry where sociopaths thrive.
-
@Demolishun you mean training a model to write it for you? It’s definitely possible, there are lots of boilerplates to train yours.
-
Interesting. I’m really good with computers because I’ve been with them literally my whole life. But if it wasn’t so easy and well-paid I’d probably go for something more creative, like music or film or something. Now I get paid for dev work and I do creative stuff in my free time. It’s a happy balance.

You can use whatever title you want if it better reflects your duties, nobody cares. I say I was a team lead because that’s what I did, but on paper I was just an engineer (I quit before my promotion would have taken effect).

Luckily at my current job we use Kanban, so no needles estimates. Work is done when it’s done, not when it should be done according to the burndown chart.
At my previous work in practice we pretty much just estimated everything the same because everyone was tired of estimation meetings. Even worse, we often had to estimate work that we had no expertise in. As a data guy how would I know how much an embedded port of an ML model takes to develop? -
@anux during the period, to be precise. It’s the time to decide if yous want to work together.
-
Not intuitive at all, but my issue is with the more advanced commands. Cherry picking, rebasing, squashing, etc.
-
The first 6 months are pretty much the probationary period anyway (I presume), so you don’t have to commit for longer either
-
@Nanos I live 3 minutes away from the place, I met all my friends there 😁
-
@atheist I've seen very similar solutions in production at my previous job. The Java dev just made a class for literally everything you can imagine.
-
To be fair, I still prefer data scientist Python code over Python written by a Java dev. Speaking from experience.
-
Haha, I work with data scientists and can confirm
-
When micromanagement is no longer enough and you need to nanomanage.
-
@stackodev it’s fine if you can put your ego aside. There’s nothing wrong with saying “huh, I haven’t thought about that” and changing it.
I’m pretty confident about my knowledge, but I’ll always consider criticism. -
People couldn’t care less about clothing at this point IMHO. As long as you’re wearing something you’re fine.

NFT as a concept is an April’s fool joke that came too early
