@CaptainRant thank you! 27inch on top and 34inch ultra wide on bottom
-
@tosensei what’s a numpad?
-
I purchased a dual arm mount where I can stack them. I have a 34inch ultra wide on the bottom. And a 27inch up top.
-
@cmarshall10450 thanks for your insight! I have had to ask for a lot of help. And I understand asking questions is how you learn. And I try to figure things out on my own every time before I ask a question. I guess feeling like an imposter never goes away lol.
-
@black-kite @black-kite yeah I understand the weeks if not months. It's my first dev job dealing with production code that's going out to clients that's not just some basic website. At first I was like why does it take someone months to know what they're looking at. I now know why.
-
@BobbyTables my mentor is great. He said it takes a while when it comes to learning any new code base but especially something as complex as ours. And I agree with him. We are all remote. But he said he would come into the office every day if that would help me. And it has. I really appreciate him and he's helping me become a better developer.
-
@black-kite not in the slightest. I express my eagerness to learn. And they know I’m very green in this industry. I’m very open and honest when it comes to things I don’t and do know.
-
@demortes I guess I’m more curious on when I’ll be able to understand their intentions behind the code they wrote.
Or more worried that I’m going to lose my job for not knowing enough. I have been reassured that I’m good. It takes a couple months. One guy didn’t do a task until 3 months after his start date. But it still makes me worry I guess. -
@electrineer it’s the second day. I have now realized after starting up today it’s not all the way set up. I have very little access to stuff just finding it out now.
-
@ComputerToucher thank you. They’re all super chill. Not all stuck up or entitled at all. Seniors are great as well.
I know I can get some help when needed. So that’s a huge plus. -
@AlmondSauce thank you for the tip and the encouragement. I really do appreciate it!
-
@electrineer I agree with it. It’s nicely put. Straight to the point. I’m going to have to steal it.
-
@EmberQuill it just doesn't seem real to me. Blows my mind.
-
@osq-ppp and good luck with yours!
-
Well shit. I’m about to start my first developer job next Monday. I know the code but do I know it enough?! I mean I passed the coding assessment they sent me. My team seems pretty chill and helpful. I hope I don’t get imposter syndrome too bad.
-
Yeah I’m keeping my Ryzen 3900x, 32gb ram, rtx 3090 machine away from windows 11 lol.
-
Great advice. My fiancé and I have already talked about that as well. We will continue living the way we do while using extra money for debt and savings along with retirement and a Roth IRA.
I appreciate the feedback and advice! A lot of people change their whole lifestyle and have nothing to show for it or any type of back up plan. -
@hjk101 I’m on cloud 9 man lol. 400+ applications and like 50 interviews from recruiters. And this company reached out to me because I connected with the lead developer 9 months ago.
-
I just got news they’re putting together an offer letter for me boys!!
-
I agree with you. Although my boot camp wasn’t that bad. They didn’t really teach us backend like they said “full stack developers” my ass. Inlearned more from a Udemy course in 3 hours on SQL than I did in there. Like I didn’t know a single query. I knew what a database was. But man. They didn’t help with careers or anything like they said they would. And now I’m back in retail still looking for my entry level job in a city where entry level is 3+ years experience.
-
I’m not working as a developer at the moment (trying to get my first dev job) but I’m working retail. And this is how I feel. Every day of my life.
-
@Crost I'm a boot camp grad and my boot camp never even brought up error handling or anything like that so I didn't know. I'm thankful for what I learned. But out in the real world I realized they didn't teach us what we needed to know. I'm not blaming them. I'm just saying the curriculum was not as good as it should've been for the money.
-
@MM83 well it's @AlmondSauce oh no I have had so many interviews and denials I'm over it lol. No attachment here.
-
@atheist I really do appreciate the advice. Thank you! Personal time at the moment is kind of rough when my fiancé and I work completely opposite schedules. My free time is usually only on my days off. Nights and mornings are rough when working 10:30-9:30 every day. I mean late nights will be an option. But no personal time with family is hard.
-
@ilechuks73 wtf is even that?
-
@Cyanide finding a first developer job is a pain in the ass lol
-
I love this anime! Waiting for a 3rd season.
-
@8lall0 basically what happened. So i politely left the interview lol
-
@gitpush oh trust me. I said “yeah I don’t think this is going to work out.”And politely left the interview
