OK - so I have a new job which I am loving but I am needing to use a Mac book which is a little frustrating. Coming from Linux with I3wm I have stuff just so.
The biggest change I miss is that I can't hover the mouse over windows to give them focus. Also middle click pasting would be awesome. Does anyone have any advice / solutions to make me feel at home? -
Due to a change in circumstances, I might be starting to work as a contractor Developer very soon in the UK. Any tips from old hands?2

Most angry? Not sure but generally get angry at my own short comings.
Like:
"duh you missed a semi-colon again you douche and it took you 3 days of debugging to realise! Just start writing python already!"3 -
Grammatical question (loosely programming related) :
I've always thought of the terms implicit and explicit, as words belonging to the same family if not quite exact opposites.
Anyway it seems sensible to me that if you turn implicit into a verb it becomes imply then to be explicit one would exply (as in be explicitly clear).
Does anyone else think there is a language gap here? -
That feeling when you finish work on Friday having built something really cool, but don't want to stop working on it.
Partly because you were enjoying it, partly because you were in the zone, and partly because you're scared that you are going to forget how it works by Monday! -
Google - I was going to type 'escaping # in json objects' but I am genuinely interested in what wisdom this Internet doohickie thang has on escaping polygamy...8

Python would be my favorite language if I could get my head around the differences between the two versions. Also I want to know what they will do when 2.x gets into the same numbering as 3.x was in?4

Just found out I have more work than I can manage stacked up until mid 2018 - all for me and where I am a single point of failure. I have several manager fighting for me and some smaller pieces of work mixed in too.
Any advice on how to get a raise while my stock is high?3 -
This a hybrid rant/question - I'm just getting into golang/go and loving bits of it but feeling that I am needing to import a new cunting package to get basic stuff done that every other language has out of the box (that is the rant) - eg fmt package is needed to print. Is this the downside of go or am I missing something fundimental?3

Normally when I revisit an old project feel like tearing out my awful old code and rewriting it all - not today; today I feel like I am backsliding. I sidelined my personal project months ago when my real work got busy.
I have spent the evening discovering all the cool shit the project does and wondering if I'll ever get my head around it all again.
Looking forward to many nights tinkering and getting my memory back. -
Just ordered new laptop - the question now is which distro to go for? Suggestions? I'm looking for something new as have good experience with Fedora and Debian but want a new challenge.10

I started building a website. V2 became a single page application without a framework. V2.5 became a content management system.
I don't dream projects I just keep building...4 -
We had a meeting where all the devs on a large sprint team were told they must attend late that evening. The gist of that meeting was 'well done your all working hard and done some good work but we have over committed so work harder!" but they took an hour and a half to make the point.

Who knew, Usb and rj45 are the same width? Not me after spending 10 mins trying to work out why mouse not working.19

I installed Linux and ended up on Ask Ubuntu trying to fix a bug. From there it kind of snow balled into learning Bash and got interested.
