Play the audio out of the speakers, hopefully the delay is small enough to verbally jam the person talking. Like those speech jammer apps
-
@arcsector it's not usually an enforcement but simply a declaration that gets people moving. In the end most deadlines could be moved back a little if needs be. But we all try hit the first deadline. It's like posing a challenge.

Ducking awesome
-
@gitlog time for a VPN I think.
-
@possum the porn ban is indeed a thing in the UK. Though they DNS ban so it sucks. Since i was paying for the internet in a student house a while back I just asked the ISP straight away as not to have awkward moments with other students.
Also counts for mobile networks. And it's a f-ing pain! -
With people who are chasing the next shiny project, I go for the bait and switch. "Yo, you seen this project over here? If you want to chip in I'll always take some stuff off your plate, like that environment."
Or if it's someone who just doesn't understand their own workload I place deadlines on what I need. "Hey, don't mean to bother you but I was hoping to get that environment sorted by the end of the week. Though if you're busy if you give X access by Thursday they said they can sort it for me." So that they either have to focus on it or give it up. -
@Jilano it was a doodle while I was coding a tree structure. I thought it was only fitting with all those leaf nodes.

500th ++ on a DevRant stress ball post. :D

@lotd
What's the gain for doing this? I'm struggling to think of any reason you'd want to upload partial torrents. -
How many times does someone get excited to put the hat on, only to forget what they were going to say?

@dfox

I moved from sublime to atom to sublime then VSCode. I like VSCode it handled a lot of what I didn't like about atom.
-
@dfox potential addition? Please

A tasty snack stack

That is most definitely NOT a global variable...

@TheSamsa I like being not picky:
Since there is still a probability (even a small one) that the plates could be saved there is still a probity to collapse. It's current state is known but it's final state isn't. -
My hate of PHP is that it doesn't mesh well with how I problem solve. Sure I could code PHP in a similar way to how my head solves things but I'd be doing a bodge job.
For me it's the wrong tool, like using right handed scissors since I'm left handed. -
@liammartens I have a surface book. I honestly love it. The screen is lovely to look at (resolution, colour reproduction) spec is lovely good enough to do pretty much any task I throw at it on the road, I enjoy the form factor (don't like the tablet keyboards, nice and light) it's the best laptop I've ever owned (though its predecessors weren't great)
-
I generally use it as a "getting started" with a new language challenge.
-
I don't mind the questions too much, happy to try my ability to explain stuff.
Another question was:
- Can you call methods from other methods? -
@Archetipo they are only immune because we think being friends with the boss has power. Doesn't mean you can't make things make them realise how rediculous they are being.
-
I'd have sent him an email in font size 72 so if he did print it, it would have taken 10s of pages and hopefully show him how ridiculous he's being.
That or send him videos of the email being typed, since you can't print a video.
Or just charge him for printer use. -
@J4s0n no less than 4h for me, nice 30minutes either side to buffer with moans and annoyance. :P
-
What about in a fruit salad? I can make that with (Pine)apples.
-
@boomi so it's like the
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
that it's an old joke that's pretty much a wide spread inside joke now? -
Every time I'm reminded of her achievements I feel like I couldn't express enough respect for her. Plus the jealousy I have that she got to work with NASA on Apollo 11 it's all just amazing.
-
Is that a negative sign! How? And who programmed explorer to even comprehend negative storage space?
-
I had a laptop that use to do that every so often when pushed to do big jobs. It now has an archery arrow through it.

The arguing isn't the problem, the issue comes when people start to make it personal. Objective arguing is the way we refine what we know, solidify suspicions, and have a good laugh if you're me and like to argue.
Those who turn it into a competition and feel the need to attack the person not the subject is where it goes wrong. -
This is the rabbit hole I fall down every time my brain feels it's a good idea to attempt web. Never found a nice combo that works for me.
