@Demolishun are you sure you don't want Edge? Everyone uses it, you should too. Here, let's try to set it as the default again!
-
@electrineer how lucky am I that I learned a bit of Polish last year, so I think I understand this without Google
-
Well, it's not my favourite piece of technology, but I'd take it over some backend js framework any day.
-
@electrineer I've also learnt my lesson. I will cancel all trials right away, as most (if not all) trials stop at the end of the trial period.
-
@Demolishun I haven't used this account in a while, then I binge-watched a half-released season from a series last weekend. Today somehow it got screwed up.
I've also been stupid enough to not have 2FA enabled on this account. So it could have been my error as well, but still, it's wild how hard can be a cancellation sometimes. -
Update: after talking for 22 minutes with the german support number I found digging everywhere, I could recover my account and cancel my prime video subscription. Now I can go to bed and sleep without worrying.
-
@tosensei nothing. But maybe I should do it to be able to bear this shit UX.
I've never really had to use it apart from a few short encounters in the past. I assumed (quite naively) that at least this paid product from Microsoft doesn't require infinite patience. -
@IdontHaveAName Doesn't help. Almost no applications exist where focusing on an input prevents you from using the cursor as intended. (Image showing input which should behave properly)
-
I want some conditional formatting. I set the range. It reduces the range in the meantime to three different ranges. I try to edit the existing formatting. I click on the input. I press shift+left, to select the part I want to delete. It starts selecting cells, instead of text. Rage.
(This is the web-based version BTW, because the desktop app is even trashier. I don't even know how to scroll horizontally with the mouse wheel) -
@jiraTicket I've also used everything from Win 95 up until 11 (except Windows ME), but I was a kid most of the time. I wasn't even allowed to sit for hours in front of the computer, so I didn't find any problems. But a few years ago I started using Linux 95% of my time, and only recently had to switch back to Windows with the new employer. Since then, I'm unable to just glance over all the issues I face, not with just Windows, but the whole Microsoft suite.
Getting back to the previously mentioned File Explorer: when the application cold starts (3-4 times a day, because I don't keep the window open), it takes around 5 seconds to load the quick access pane. I think that is an objectively long time for something that should be almost instantaneous. This never happened to me in Windows 10, for me that was a more stable version -
@Root lovely description
-
@iceb I also have a 3 month probation period (required by law here), so I feel like I have the time to learn about the company and easily exit, if needed.
-
@netikras but I'm still hopeful about the project as it seems like an interesting one.
To be honest one week is not enough to see the true face of the company. -
@netikras it is my first week in a company this big. I haven't coded a single line, because of missing credentials. I couldn't even pull the repos yet.
Which still would be fine, but the mandatory circle jerking trainings about our own solutions with the anger inducing assesments make me reconsider my decision.
There are questions like "How many sentences are in the elevator statement?" (of the software solution) -
WTF? I also got an email last Friday about some NATO project, though it didn't say anything about seniority level, but it did talk about Java, C# and JavaScript as the languages in which some libraries would be written.
-
@SidTheITGuy applying as a twin
-
Please keep us updated about the results
-
Would it be possible to make it responsive? So when you open a repository on a phone, it doesn't require scrolling. (Not sure how complicated that would be, just asking)
-
Most companies want seniors and leads. They are scared of juniors and mids.
-
I haven't had any problems with vite so far, but I can subscribe to the bashing of pnpm. I don't know what it was caching for me and why, but it messed up builds for me both locally and on Vercel.
-
I would be so happy if I ever had at least half of the patience you had for posting this many photos. @Nanos
-
@retoor but if you are interested, and if I manage to do something with the project, I can keep this thread updated
-
@retoor thanks for asking :)
Sadly, I haven't worked on the project in the last few days. I'm hoping I can get something done next week. -
@retoor nice. It's open source, right?
-
@retoor same, it's for a personal project. I'm just experimenting, and since I have the time, I'm considering two different solutions: one with the custom caret handling, the other one with the mutation API.
-
@electrineer well, I'm kinda basing my logic on implementation details. But sometimes there is no other way around it. The aforementioned Mutation API is like this. I can understand why the different browsers return a different list of mutations for the same operations, but I still have to process it based on my constraints and needs.
-
@retoor I'm messing with the Mutation API. Of course Chrome implements it slightly differently than Firefox.
I've had issues with contenteditables as well: Firefox is handling the caret's client rectangle in a messed up way at soft wraps, while Chrome is setting the Range for the caret after the focusing event handler run -
Not even OnePlus could escape this annoying new trend, but at least they kept the old solution as well.
-
@chonky-quiche it's still kinda random for me: sometimes I use npm, sometimes I use yarn. I'm way too lazy to check which one is better (and at this point I don't even care). I wouldn't even have yarn on my device, if it wasn't for a previous workplace project.

Do you live in the countryside or somewhere remote? Most European cities are pretty livable without a car (even if most Eastern European countries are far behind the Western ones). I think buying groceries and living, in general, is way easier because we usually have less sprawl than in North America. Having a car is usually the most expensive way of transportation.
