First week after going live with a newly built application, users complained performance was weak.
Within 3 days we improved 93% and 77% improvement on critical parts of the application.
Released the patch on an evening and before I even arrived at the office next morning I got an email from the client telling us that the first users were really happy with the performance increase :)
Feels like a win -
Or just make a picture with a camera of the document....?!?!?!?!
-
Yeah i brought mines home for a while and used it for personal projects/youtube/netflix but I avoided the shady parts of the internet mostly because they can check my history.
But I repaired my own laptop so no need anymore for that! -
I usually dodge these with "You know I have a fulltime job right. Besides that even if we have the application it wont sell itself and it will take a lot more to grow a product." .
Then I proceed explaining how the company I work at had a great idea, built the application but failed to market and sell. In the meanwhile competition gained the advantage on us forcing us to quit. -
Hey bro,
I know how you feel and it is very depressing. Keep your head up and enjoy the things you do have in life, love will come eventually.
I am in a similair situation where im alone in a city because my ex girlfriend left me after moving here.
A couple of months ago I met this wonderful girl but she was living temporarily in The Netherlands and she left to go back to France again.
Currently I am also feeling the need for a soul to love, to be around, to feel comfortable and its making me feel depressed sometimes.
At those times I try to realise what I do have in my life and then I realise that I have a great job, friends and a family.
Love will find its way to you eventually -
Another Rotterdam devranter! What company do you work at?
-
@hack oh.. what about the external SOAP calls..?
-
Wow having a courier delivering an API token is the craziest thing I ever heard lol
-
Sounds like my job.. welcome to the financial world
-
@musician Well actually I would go with Protractor since it is an angularjs web app.
But Cypress looks very promising with the time travel -
@Nawap Imo he should not work on it if he is not comfortable with the stack or just adapt to it
-
How I feel when I have to write CSS..
-
@AlissChang yep dutch haha, besides sometimes having to work a lot i really like my job
-
@Fast-Nop actually happend today.. tried to implement cache busting by sensing over a version header and by mismatch Force reload.
But on our T env we do not use rolling updates, but on production we do so any client connected during that time of deployment kept reloadimg because each call was being load balanced to an updated version or either an instamce that still needs to update..
Which resulted in a couple mins infinite loop of refreshing..
Never do this again -
Sometimes I find variables named 'bitches', 'cookies' or names of colleagues.
So I added the 'dick' filter :) -
@linuxxx damn son :(.. typo

@Codex404 We are both dutch but we dont work in C# or PHP tho
-
@Codex404 I work for a company where they think similair to your company.
But, a big corporate company hires our people to come and work for them, where they have a similair mindset as OP posted.. I dont like it aswell -
I was using an in mem db but switched recently to the same db configuration as production
-
Love the backend one

Currently I have the Kalih blue switches which are quite nice but havent really tried the Brown ones yet. Some coworkers have them and whenever I use their keyboards its quite nice.
Thinking of getting a Brown switches keyboard for at the office soon and keep my blue switches keyboard for on the go since it lacks a numpad -
@Fast-Nop yep, our team started out with 2 juniors and now after a year on the project we are really paying our technical debt
-
Im not a TDD expert or anything but when I'm developing a web service I write a couple of tests containing success and error calls with the expected responses.
Then i start developing, once I think I finished handling a certain call, I run the tests to verify I didnt break any another cases on the service and to verify if the current change was succesful.
When not, I open my debug tools and fix the bug.
When the test passes, I wire up the frontend and then test all cases on the service from within the client -
@Awlex No not really.. well our company is trying to get another source of income besides the big whale we kinda depend on.
He has been preparing some meetings for the managers because he has experience in sales and our boss says people who bring in the money can earn a better salary and since our saas is only costing money at the moment and the meetings he prepared resulted in 2 new project collaborations with other companies financed by the government..
Im sure we could have gotten these projects without his help aswell.. -
I have to deal with Eclipse daily aswell..
