I would highly recommend Scott Allen and Shawn Wildermuth's courses on Pluralsight, it's not free but they're pretty up to date and covers most of the things and will help you get started, also Microsoft offers free 1 month premium plus trial if you wanna check it out.

It depends on your use case, in general I would go with .Net as I'm more of a "C# guy", but it's really up to you and what you are trying to do!

Try rewarding yourself when you complete a project, like you'll only purchase a game when you finish it (assuming you play games) or something else!

It depends on what you are trying to do, if you are building a game with heavy graphics than go with Unreal, but if you are building a 2d platformer or game which doesn't depend on graphics than go with Unity, but for starters I would personally recommend Unity.
