Recruiters are sales/mgmt types who don't usually comprehend the concept of social anxiety.

Why would you not say(diplomatically) what's in your head? If your job is to write code, then having more than a standup at the start of the day will, as abundantly demonstrated in the industry, actively reduce your output. Say it!
-
Ugh, that's some hostile shit.
I'm sorry you have to deal with it-- even just hearing it. -
@scor
Heh, no that's alright. I'm sure I'll know it when I see it. -
@scor
I reserved the 512G model. Steam says I should get mine, "July-September," and I'm still watching for the email from valve. -
I've seen this before. They're most likely expanding the team.

@bittersweet
Airplane mode, every night.
(so the alarm still works) -
Hero Culture is nonsense. It just chews up and spits out good people.

If you only want training in a specific technical field, then go to a trade school or one of those tech boot camp style places. The purpose of a liberal arts degree is to give you a well-rounded education. If you go into college expecting it to be trade school, then you're going to be disappointed.

I believe it's usually because a PHP module is missing.
But holy crap, don't use WordPress. -
A lot of devs really resent being "measured," and will give nonsense estimates, to intentionally make the scrum master's life hard. I've definitely seen that before.
-
Dev: then I never want to hear about new features ever again.
-
I didn't. The OP did.

You said the post would provide information, and then stopped authoring the post, instead just pasting in a markety infographic. What are you doing?
-
You are wasting his time, but that's not your problem. He has a mandate to submit as many candidates as he can for the positions they are trying to staff. If all he's doing is blasting out mass emails to a list and then getting angry that nobody's jumping on these positions, then he needs to work on himself.

There's a real cult of positivity around crypto and especially NFTs. Anyone who points out the obvious, glaring, critical problems with them is immediately attacked and insulted.

@Hazarth
Is this tongue in cheek? Because KDE is exceptionally popular. -
@zlice
I was intrigued by the whole thing, and I was convinced my system was faster for having been compiled locally, though I could never actually point to any real metrics. I loved its implementation of init scripts as well, and the portage package manager was like nothing I'd ever seen. Well now I've used pacman, and nothing else compares.
I think I stopped using Gentoo because my system would just break after a year or two, and the only solution I could manage at the time was a reinstall. -
bspwm + polybar + rofi
Back in my Gentoo days, about twenty years ago, I loved waimea and especially its downstream fork kahakai. The latter is gone now, though someone ported waimea to amd64 and put it in the AUR. I think I should try it again. -
Maybe this is just the sysadmin in me talking, but why does your instinct seem to be to drop something you know has flaws into your app, as opposed to writing a search function yourself?
-
Just apply for jobs as, like, yourself.

Isn't Waterfox gecko, before Firefox changed its engine to quantum?
-
@gosubinit
I was on location for a consulting gig about ten years ago, and another engineer showed me launchy. Since then, I have become hopelessly dependent on the alt-space keystroke for launching, whether I'm on windows(f&rr), Linux(rofi), or Mac(Alfred). -
@gosubinit
Find and run Robot, launchy, or several others, can make this much easier, and far more flexible and extendible. -
@lungdart
Well, to be clear in a time of war, what kind of people are they? Old? Rural? Lacking in modern services? -
Yeah, I was really just trying to get a sense of whether the general population of Russia believes the things Putin says that are regarded pretty summarily in the West as nonsense.
I was not at all interested in inviting the nonsense irrelevant screeds of Trumpist blowhards trying to draw some extremely far-fetched equivalence between Russia and the US.
I think I've gotten as good of an answer as I can get, given the agenda these whackjobs would rather push than allow actual, real-life Russian devranters to answer. -
@hitko
Um, not at all comparable. -
It's my understanding that internet access is as ubiquitous throughout the populous parts of the country as anywhere else in the modern world. Is there a content censoring firewall against the West?
-
I mean, not since 2002, when I started using KeePass.
