@piehole no I just think it's kind of strange you set out these requirements for other people and write about it in such a condescending matter. strangely enough there is not a single encouragement in your critique.
even if you're comments are meaningful overall, let's just say as an interviewee I wouldn't like to be interviewed by someone who won't bother to start on a positive note (: -
@piehole but what if this was built "4fun"
-
I don't think respect is the problem. but man, I feel sorry if you're in your fifties and still don't have a basic clue of taking responsibility for your own shit. I don't think this guy would know what authentic pride feels like, and it must be shitty to miss out on that.
-
it only works the first time if you haven't written the unit tests yet.
-
@david-hil ohh and he dislikes those because it's the PHP way to do it of course.
-
I think what you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/linux.
-
I wonder what his rationale behind his hate for PHP is huh
-
@irene @rutee07 I can't see anything but a lollipop in that round one
-
how do you mean sleep? more coffee and it'll be fine.
-
@Skriptkiddy got it. I didn't know you could run firebase on any kind of server. figured it was just Google's "run your app in our cloud and we get the data" platform.
-
@Skriptkiddy oh, I've not dealt with firebase so extensively to know anything about that. sorry.
-
iirc firebase shouldn't deal with paths, right? maybe 0,5 relative path but mostly it's libraries and stuff. given that it's Serverless you don't really deal with the direct environment for file storage and stuff.
-
@Codex404 oh man, that's evil. I like it, I think.
-
"reject accusations"
that's not how git works dammit. then again, the junior doesn't seem to understand that in the first place. -
let y1 = y2 / j3 * b2 // divide y2 with j3 and then multiply by b2
looks fine to me, right? -
any relationship requires boundaries and you need to enforce these boundaries for the relationship to stay healthy.
if you like your supervisor you establish your boundaries because by respecting each others boundaries you will both be happier. in the end it probably means you can discuss abstract boundaries rather than getting mad over concrete cases where either one of you already got hurt.
if you don't give your 100 for a job, then that is a fine boundary for you. only a contract with the devil would require you to give your 100. -
@electrineer motivation is a great first step but you don't finish anything without a healthy dose of discipline.
-
occasional irrational fear of death can be a good motivator to get out of our comfort zone
-
being a computer scientist really just means you can sort a pack of cards really efficiently. in theory, anyway.
-
if it's mandatory they have to pay for it, if they manipulate you into it they're just awful human beings. short term selfish goals typically motivate this behaviour, from a spectator's view the whole ordeal is just kind of sad.
-
@beggarboy computers are essentially math and a lot of look up tables.
-
yeahhh expect everything you learn at university to be 10 years outdated at least. it's (arguably) the best environment to learn, but you don't necessarily learn the best things there.
-
considering how fast the notch was copied by every manufacturer ever, I really hate that no windows laptop has a trackpad as big as the MacBook
-
we have to compensate for the native English speakers.
-
My Philips machine has an on and off switch. It doesn't really seem to care whether you added water or coffee when you turn it on though.. found that out by "scientific experimentation".
-
`this is also
a multi line string.
this string doesn't give two
shits about converting
a function
into a string.` -
@PonySlaystation well that is right. I did generalize.
-
you're all voicing your opinion on not allowing someone's opinions and that's pretty ironic.
-
"sister, I study science. not how to be your personal assistant."
and also, she can just rename the file and be done with it. EXIF data won't change anyway... -
I never ask or answer, and my relation with SO is completely through search engines but boy, does it have a problem if I have to believe my fellow ranters.
