C: WAIT, PREHEATING

N: *Lifts handle to put Keurig cup in*

C: LOWER HANDLE TO PREHEAT

N: Fine, I'll just wait.

C: FILL WATER TANK

N: Wtf I just sat here for like 3 minutes and now you tell me? *Fills Tank*

C: WAIT, PREHEATING....

N: *Waits another 3 minutes*

C: INSERT CUP

N: *Inserts Cup*

C: *Makes coffee in 1 minute*

C: ENJOY COFFEE. WAIT, PREHEATING

N: *Turns off surge protector before finished preheating*

Is this really nitpicky shit? I feel like I have to babysit it through the entire process.

    Sounds like it's micromanaging you.
    Usually I hate brands, but when it comes to coffee machines it should probably wear an Italian flag and be all mechanical - no software near it (-;

    I just really don't like keurigs because they don't allow you to put in cups that weren't made by their brand. No open source coffee initiative.

    You leave water in your Keurig while switched off and then rely on the machine to tell you the tank is empty?

    My Philips machine has an on and off switch. It doesn't really seem to care whether you added water or coffee when you turn it on though.. found that out by "scientific experimentation".

    Keurig/nespresso/etc is Apple. Simple, vendor locked, sprays hot water in your face if you "hold it wrong".

    Drip/frenchpress is Microsoft, acceptable but far from delicious, easily repairable but always full of gunk.

    Linux... Compile your coffee from beans. Choose and configure your grinder, measure your grounds, decide whether you want an espresso or doppio, laugh at noobs for drinking Keurig like a pleb. Then cry when your $5k machine succumbs to mineral rich water.

    Does anyone still use a plain old filtered coffee machine anymore?

    I've used various little pod coffee machines (just to know). I feel like these little pods just create trash and inconvenience. I make a pot of coffee once in the morning and leave the warmer on. Coffee at 3PM is the same as 8AM. Why have we over engineered this simple process?

    Hot_Water + Coffee_Beans == 'caffeinated Programmer'

    I don't see the need for robots in the above statement.
