!important is my version of a war flashback. The horror!
-
That's just, like, your opinion, man.
-
Gross!
-
It's like you read my mind for the past several months of work.
-
Getting started is really hard. I hated it at first! But if you keep up with it, slowly it starts to make sense, which I believe is true of any programming language, particularly your first. Keep at it! I came to love JavaScript.

Every. Damn. Time.
-
Worse yet, in Jira, if you want to cancel a new ticket, the two options it gives you are "Cancel" and "cancel," but which cancel cancels, and which just cancels?
-
@boo1997 this is the only correct answer.
-
Ew!
-
Yes! I have about a moment per week where I feel incompetent or in over my head. It's kinda fun!

Be a true friend and enlighten him to the whole world of tools much better suited to the job. 👏

riot. break shit. teach the command line anyway. be a rebel.
-
Jeez, dude. Hope everything's okay. 🙁
-
@cors or only allow you to edit for a brief, set timeframe.
-
Love that movie so much. 😻
-
@binhex I really don't know. I thought it was better to act like I'm not terrified, and I wasn't acting like I was an amazing developer. Really strange stuff.
-
Been there. I just got turned down by a company for being "too confident" for a junior dev. Wasn't sure if it was a strange lie/blow off, or if it was true, what the hell that meant as I've never been described as "too confident" about anything. Interviewing is hard.
-
And a side note I forgot to mention: my father is easily the more tech savvy parent.
-
@Trey50Daniel went to Auburn. How about you?
-
@Trey50Daniel haha, amazingly not. they were mostly just happy I found one that pays.
-
@Trey50Daniel gotta keep fighting the good fight down here.
-
@kevbost co-signed. I enjoyed my experience, even miss it sometimes.

Alabama, USA--wanting to move somewhere more . . . enlightened.
-
don't worry, centering is not as simple or intuitive as it should be, even for us front-end folks.
-
@Willyb321 I have a particular soft spot for wandering around the command line. It got beaten into me. 😆
-
@Willyb321 creates a new file. So, to create a new HTML file in the present directory would be 'touch index.html', for example.
-
who am I kidding? The most exciting part is watching new features work the first time, but the rest is true!
-
I'm actually in a similar position. I just keep searching for jobs that fit my criteria, try to power through the bad work, and relish the very few fun moments that pop up at my job. It's a slog for sure.
Good luck. -
@deity I've got one bookmarked that I've still never used called Formspree. Might be worth a look.

I'm 30, and I've only been in the dev game for about a year. Just keep working, it gets more natural and intuitive. And occasionally trick yourself into feeling cocky about your skills, like today when I actually laughed at the salary a recruiter told me.
