SkillsStarted my journey with PLC programming during my apprenticeship. At university I learned C and Python, at my new job it's mainly C# with some (horrible) short trips to VBA.

When we did numerical mathematics in Python, we always used arrays because they would hold only and exclusively float values.

Everytime someone leaves their PC unlocked at my workplace, we send a Teams message to everyone saying that the user who forget to lock the PC will bring a cake to work tomorrow :) we've had lots of cake this way

I don't miss anything using Signal, and I also use Telegram... Love the clean app Signal has

There are websites where you can track the time and failure rate which you need to type a certain text, write up those times and see it as a highscore you need to beat. Suddenly it's a lot more rewarding, and you can also easily see how fast you are improving!
-
@IntrusionCM even worse, it's from 2003 ^^
-
I once saw an ad for a 7.5 square meter appartment in Munich for 600€ which is fucking expensive.
-
Come to Germany, you won't even find a house to rent most of the time ^^
-
Ah Birra Moretti reminds me at holidays in Italy, great beer!
-
Yeah same here in Germany

Also in the old days if you wanted to sign up for something (like a paper newsletter e.g.), you had to fill the form with handwritten text in full caps. So maybe some old people still think they have to do it this way...

I love that when I read the devRant feed, about 80% of the posts are relevant to me, whereas on FB maybe 10% are. So being half an hour on devRant is better invested time for me than half an hour on FB.

@Ranchu it's the tail of a squirrel ^^
-
@Ranchu yeah, if there's an error in a line with heigth or width I'll check the spelling first ^^
-
@Benedikt Yeah in Bavaria you are confronted with Oachkatzlschwoaf 😂
-
Yeah your customer was a jerk, but nontheless I think that as a good developer you should spell check the code/UI elements you write. Even in a demo imho
-
@wannabe I wonder where the conclusion that dim means dimension comes from. Went to google, too, but nowhere found something in a official MS documentation. But manyonline blogs explain it that way...
-
@SortOfTested ah okay didn't know that ^^
-
@bittersweet yeah I love travelling by train, too. But if you regularly have to wait in the freezing cold because your train has a delay, it's not that awesome anymore
-
@bittersweet will take a look at that!
-
@AlmondSauce I hope in 20 years VBA is dead ^^
-
@C0D4 Yeah as soon as VBA takes over more than 5% of my programming tasks I'll leave immideately!
-
@wannabe yeah and why the heck do you have to write
Dim x As Integer
instead of a simple
int x
Such a fucking mess
