Vivaldi does not just ask you what drink you want, but also how do you want it to be prepared.

hitko31485y@FrodoSwaggins A lot of recent FF features were privacy-oriented, but if you look them up on bugzilla they break a bunch of well-known sites and browsing experience in general if enabled. On the other hand, they took 6 years to implement xpath search in developer tools, something webkit / chromium devtools had almost since the beginning, and what a whole lot of people have been asking for.

Firefox likes to append ".com" to any non-domain thing I type into the address bar. Most often on one word searches... As much as I like Firefox, this annoys the fuck out of me.

hitko31485y@FrodoSwaggins That's totally what I want most of the time, until it accidentally starts blocking things like captcha and suddenly forms with any kind of bot protection just won't work, or when it blocks torrenting sites for using miners.

hitko31485y@FrodoSwaggins Speaking of privacy, just came across this one: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_b... - after 8 years, websites can still totally detect incognito mode by checking whether IDB is available. Now I'm aware you'd probably block websites using this "trick" anyway, but the whole discussion on this issue highlights the approach FF takes: while Chromium devs took special care to ensure websites can't use "blocked" APIs to detect private mode, FF labelled it as P3: "This isn't a bad idea, and maybe we'll want to implement it at some point in the future, but it's not near-term roadmap material.", leaving it there for the past 8 years because it's a non-trivial implementation.

@hitko But they did have the resources for super important stuff on their road map: many pointless and annoying GUI rewrites, wasting countless hours of add-on devs for e10s and then axing the whole add-on ecosystem altogether, adding in crap like pocket, you name it.
