People think it’s their given gift to get an increment. Like their time served is enough. No! Fucking prove yourself and work for it!
-
Log it into your sprint as a task and put time against it.. they will soon change when they see the sprint filling up with hours of developer time going on meetings.
-
@Froot then maybe they branded the role incorrectly, as as it was initially sold I was going to be leading a developer but acting more like a senior developer.
My pay scale is also around the range of a “senior developer” or even a well played “developer” in the private sector(I work in the UK public sector)
Now at that pay range would you expect someone to take on the roles I mentioned above?
Or am I just deluded and this is actually what the role should entail? -
@hashedram I use it less and less recently. tend to use vs code on Ubuntu. But there are some things that VS is good for.. not to mention we have 2 Winform apps which is just stupid to maintain in in somthing like vs code.

As a follow up, I spoke to the infrastructure lead about this a week latter, his reply makes me want to punch him in the face “yeah it’s been like that for ages!”
You fucking what!?!?!?? So you knew about it and didn’t do anything to fix it until your bosses boss tells you to!? Fucking jobs worth! -
@georgelynch I emailed the head of IT detailing that I would likely appear on some of their logs between xx:xx and yy:yy on x day as I was proving my suspicions. And a full account and a partial reason I was on the server in a first place...
Seems weird to explain " I was on the server because I just kinda get a kick out of nosing around how applications store their data on the file system..."
What I wanted to say is I watch too much mr robot and really wanted to boot into my live copy of Kali and go to town like a ninja hacker! -
Check the keyboard. When I'm at my desk I use the home and end keys all the time with my laptop on a dock and external keyboard. I get home, I have to push the bastard function key and fucking left and right arrow together for home and end! Ball ache!
-
Used to have a desktop engineer on my team who would always say AVI cable instead of DVI. Drove me up the wall!
-
That is 3 days on top of being the only developer in this week and coming back off of leave for a week with loads to catch up on. And 2-3 other projects to deliver...
-
Spent a whole 2-3 seconds trying to figure out how the image extended past the bezel of your screen.
-
I used Dropbox for years for my source control. Has rollback, available on all my machines, backup if my machine dies...
-
@shiv379 number 7 is actually waterfall.
-
I have a firefox plugin which tells me what frameworks a site is using when you visit it ;) #GeeekOutOnlineFoodShopping!

Start writing powershell, you will wear the key out lol
-
At the footer of the page near the copy right it shows an emoji of a little boy or a little girl on my kids birthdays. I often leave Easter eggs in the JS sourcecode too.
-
It's funny how true this is...
-
My finger still twitches over the semi colon key at the end of the line :(
-
Hmmm. I might have to write it up. Didn't think anyone would be that interested. Clearly lost contact with my techie peers!
-
How fast and ruthless the fucking thing spread! Lol

There is a website which takes still frames from films and then finds out what source code it is from. A lot of it is linux kernel stuff... Nmap was used in the matrix and mr robot uses Kali Linux and real commands.
-
Me every time I look at regex
-
Dotnetcore runs on windows. IDEs are shit compared to VS though... I'm actively trying to move my web servers to Linux away from windows and IIS
-
@skiilaa Star Trek reference.
-
TBH, the install is pretty sweet. Gone are the bloated VS days...
-
Odo? Is that you?
-
@craig939393 not trying to sound negative. Just ensuring people realise the NHS is a good place to work. I write systems which has the potential to save someone's life!
-
@craig939393 I write full stack asp.net and I earn double that in the NHS.
-
@craig939393 developers get paid quiet a bit more then that within the NHS.
