@jak645 Let me know if you move to 3R, I might have something for you ;)
-
@jak645 Are you around Mtl, Qc or 3R?
-
If you're on Discord @jak645, let me know your DiscordTag and we could chat on there! If you're interested, of course ;)
Edit : Thanks for the info @stuxnet! -
That sucks man :( I see you're in Quebec, where are you located? My team is looking for a dev (backend and/or frontend)... I don't know if there's private messaging on devrant :/
-
I asked a question similar to yours some months ago (I wanted to ditch GoDaddy), and went with NameCheap.
Nothing bad to say as of now... Real privacy for free forever, haven't gotten any spam after registering. -
If you find it hard to trust any commercial solution, you could also spin your own with OpenVPN hosted on some service like Digital Ocean. Depending on usage, the prices could be similar.
Ars Technica wrote a piece last year doing just that (https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/...). -
ProtonVPN (https://protonvpn.com)
-
@snaz That shit made my day XD Tx bud!
-
@Null0x90 Yeah I know about parseInt, but I always write it after seeing the aftermath of "10 + 10" becoming "1010" XD Javascript is a special snowflake ;)
-
Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Much appreciated :)
-
@Fast-Nop I wouldn't expect otherwise from Iceland ;) I'll give them a look too, tx!
-
@bahua Thanks! I'll take a look at it! Honestly, I don't care that much for the spam emails, they fall into my spam folder anyways. It's the phone calls. Those are annoying as f*. And the fact that I paid extra for essentially nothing.
-
@undef It's free with .CA domains too, but you still need to buy that .COM :/ And I guess I would have to use a EU based provider to benefit from GDPR?
-
@telephantasm I won't go into too much details, but our team's situation requires me to be all over the place and wear many many hats, so not that much idling.
And since I kinda want to branch out from the programming I'm doing "by trade", I would have a hard time explaining this other work to my boss... "What, those .cpp files? Well, they're for backend web stuff. Nginx. They're nginx modules. Yes. Nginx opengl modules. Shut up. It's real. Don't look it up!"
But yeah, taking some hours off "for myself" (god that sounds millennial as f*), and dedicate those hours to learning goes along what I was thinking. Plus it would let me some time in the weekend for the gf, etc. Tx bud. -
@kunashe Makes sense! Honestly, I try keeping myself from thinking about how not meaningful this all is.
I don't feel like I'm making a software as much as I feel I'm making people make more money, while not getting that much raise $$/recognition.
And I mean, I know in the grand scheme of things, the result is pretty much always making someone more money, but still. Finding meaningful projects/causes or plain and simple enjoyable projects would cheer up the moral a whole lot. Tx. -
@thevariableman An unprofessional girl got in an argument with a former NASA engineer (important man) on Twitter and lost her internship (source : https://youtube.com/watch/...)
-
@Floydian To be fair, the testing crew I work with would ask "Is this the URL I have to test?" looking at an email address they should use to login. I'm quite sure you would facepalm a lot too XD
-
I had one like that on my team once. They'll drive you crazy unless you learn to let it go (fair warning, it's hard to do when you care about the product your making).
But fear not! They'll usually quit before you do as they feel superior and will get tired of "working with incompetents". Then you'll be stuck with his spaghetti code, but that's for later ;) -
*Tester shows screenshots*
You : That's not even the right app version to test...
Gotta love them <3 ;) -
@Skayo Ugh! I didn't know about that product and now I want one so bad o.o Damn you nostalgia... Thanks for sharing it though :)
-
@heyheni Yeah, if they listen to want you have to say. Sadly in my case, every encounter with them has been a disaster. We think they must not like our faces or something ¯\(◉‿◉)/¯
-
@theKarlisK *customer leaves the store, disappointed*
I'm gonna tell everyone how much this company sucks!
---
We tried to tell them, they wouldn't listen :( -
@nin0x03 Yeah, well they give us good stories to tell... But when it happens it's more infuriating than anything else.
-
@ruhe Thanks :)
